Elegant Wargame

Commander – Europe at War Gold is the first in a series of high level turn based strategy games. The first game spans WW2, allowing players to control the axis or allied forces through the entire war in the European Theatre.

Elegant Wargame

Post by sabre1 »

Just purchased, and so far I like the elegant simplicity.

I did have problems with it running under Vista 64, but turned on the administrator and XP compatibility and everything appears to be working.

I have been on the fence about this game for months. I kept vacillating between GGWAW and CEAW, and decided this one would take less time to learn.

The graphics are wonderful, I love the similarity between Panzer General I and CEAW.

I am also looking forward to the Napoleonic descendant to this wargame. I am currently in the middle of the Richard Sharpe series.

Thank you Matrix and Slitherine.

I have been playing this game for hours on end.  I love it. Thanks!

Now the requests, or else I'm missing something.
I wish:
1. There was a way to move multiple units in the same general direction without having to click on each one.
2. When the map is zoomed out, it would be nice to see which units have not been moved.

Those are the two biggest ones, and other than that the game is very enjoyable.  It would certainly be nice if you could have allowed players to continue the game after 1945 (was ready to invade U.S.).  It would also be great if you did the entire world, but these are just wants and not needs.  I haven't even delved into PBEM yet, but I am looking forward to it.

I am really looking forward to the Napoleonic version.

I got the printed manual today, and I do see that you "can" continue the game past 1945.  Sorry about my post above...
