Editing the XML and Adjusting Inflation

Post by cdvalenta »

I am about to enter the off season of my 5th season managed GBG. I think salaries are getting a bit unrealistic and I want to set a limit on all the teams finances to reign them in a little. Especially for the free agent class that is coming up this off season.

Has anyone played with the XML file to reduce the inflation of team finances? I almost want to create a type of salary cap type league.

Don't worry... at this stage of the game I would definitely back-up my association before messing around with the XML file.

Thanks!!

What year are you about to enter into in your association?

Ok, here's something you can try if you like:

Download my latest version of PS_CONFIG utility (v2.1.1.1) now on the website. Run it, and set the SalaryCap field to "True" and the SalaryCapAmount field to {whatever you decide you want to set it to}. You'll have to do some research on your own teams to determine what is a fair salary cap amount.

Please read the included readme.txt file before hand; and please backup and save your association .psa/psx data files.
Please note: I have not tried out the salary cap myself, so you'll be the first if you decide to take the plunge. Did I mention to backup the .psa/.psx? :)

Great. I will give it a try this weekend. I have a smaller association that I play and I'll try it out on there first.

This should be interesting. I will definitely have backups of all my files before I try this. I'll let you know how it goes.

I finally got a chance last night to try this out. One thing that I noticed right away was that when the AI was thinking or GM was making decisions between games it took a lot longer than it used to. I guess this would make sense seeing how there was one more thing the AI had to deal with but it got to the point were I could go do something else for 10 to 15 minutes between games.

I can't decide if I want to go back to a non-salary capped league or if the time trade off is worth it.

I don't know if this helps or not . . . you may have gotten what you need from Crash's psconfig but check out this thread -

I think inflation is addressed in his second post. I always play with this adjustment to the xml file.
