Supply in AE

Post by stewartbragg »

How will supply convoys be handled in AE. I didn't really like the old system. Even on Auto-Convoy my bases sometimes didn't get the right amount of supply. My experience anyway. Just may have been doing something wrong.

To be honest, if you were using auto-convoy, then you were doing something wrong. It would be nice if it got fixed, but I don't know if they did.

Never got auto-convoy to work; I usually just create a transport TF, load it and give it a destination, then click on the toggle that sets it to "CS:destination".  It then runs continuously between the two ports, loading in one and unloading supplies in the other.

Ummm ok in stock in all my games I use autoconvoy extensively to reduce the burden its one of the ways of speeding up turns.

The key as the allies is to only do it from one side.

e.g. Karachi OR SF - if you do both weirdness ensues and only select bases to activate after you have a secure LOC to them..

So has this been fixed?? Or is this your gentle way of telling us to live with it as is?

I am new to WitP, and am looking forward to the release of AE, but the auto convoy system has wrecked my games so far in AE. Is the concensus that you use the old UV method of Continuous supply? If so this would explain why I could never get going as the Japanese[&:][X(]

I actually don't find manually organizing convoys that onerous. The big time consumer to me is moving subs, not organizing convoys. I would just do it manually. If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!

Will overland supply be automatic by computer determined requirements or can you manually force supply to certain bases or hoard it when you don't want it to leave a base?  Has this be changed or addressed at all?  Tx

I have gotton good results using auto convoy as the IJN if you only select the ports with production items (oil, factories, HI, etc.). The auto-convoy will shift the resources and oil around in a seemly meaningless fashion, but the results are excellent. I'm not a good player and usually get wiped out by a competent allied player, but my economy usually rocks!

Apparently with the new system in AE you can set a minimum supply figure at a base and the base will try to retain that figure (ie. by drawing supply overland from other bases if necessary). So the frustration in WiTP of building up a good stock of supply only to see it whither away to rear bases should be gone.

Auto convoy is unchanged as I said it works ok for me (a few issues with convoys trying to get to Vladivostock)

Apart from that its ok

But auto convoy only SENDS the new supply AFTER the base is already low. So by the time the convoy finally arrives the base is almost out, and AF, Port, Fort production has slowed to a crawl!!
