I must admitt that i am playing around a little with a World War III scenario. NATO and allies vs The Warsaw pact, Peoples Republic of China and allies.
I am trying to keep it simple in the beginning. Should be playable against ai. Using the WAW map with some modifications. Four regimes China, Soviet, USA and Nato.
Greatest danger is that i will get bored and not finish.

As you can see the commies have somewhat less production but a little more units. They have a better strategic position also. Any thoughts on strenght/production ratio?
The bulk of the forces are placed. There is still room for some more units though.
step 1: set the relative production of cities (if frankfurt am oder is x, then berlin is 3x and moskva 4x)
step 2: set an advancerate for the numerical superior (player A), maby 5 hexes per turn or whatever seem reasonable. This works best for single frontline battles
step 3: consider that player A advances at the set rate, calculate how much productionpoints does acumulate, starting units included, for example 592x (city production)+30000(predeployed unit costs). Keep counting until player A has the towns needed for victory
step 4: do the same for the defending player but in reverse
step 5: put the numbers next to eachother, like 592x+30000=1325x+5000
step 6: find x, isn't algebra just amazing?
step 7: test, test some more and adjust
Ande: Aaah. Looks like a valid method. Not so easy when you have 4+ fronts and different strategic situation (the communist have the advantage of inner lines).
Jeffrey H: Tactical nukes didnt really exist in the 80s and the strategic ones were generally not for use in conventional warfare. If someone started to use nuke life as we now it would have been over. So i have no plans on including them.
Have just upploaded a huge update to the scenario bank since last time.
Some of the major changes made.
- adjusted some borders.
- OOB much more complete. Have added some US forces, Cuban forces etc, Allied submarines. If someone notices some part of OOB that looks missing please tell!!!
- Have added separate regimes for the Arab nations, Israel, Peoples republic of Korea. Instead of just being part of each regime they now are added on turn 2,2 and 3 (can be subject to change later)
- Arabs and Israelis are separate people. Israelis fight with 20 % bonus. Arabs have some morale bonus.
- Research cost doubled
- Air unit range increased with 40 %
Latest strenght numbers. These dont include the regimes of N Korea, Arab Nations or Israel though. All and all Israel is a little stronger.

will you include any nuclear artillery? and nuclear bazookas and mortars (they where crazy in the sixties) it would force all players to spread very thin
Your scenario looks great, but it would necessary to make some changes, as WWII units and tactics aren´t appropriate for a WWIII scenario. Unfortunately, it implies in a lot of work, as I´learning myself. I also believe that you excellent World map could be used instead of tw map, as South American and Sub Saharan Africa would eventually be involved in such a conflict.
Ande: no, dont thinks so.
Bombur: What kind of units are you thinking about? Remember, the scenario takes place in the mid 80s. Regarding the map. Yeah. i like the world map. But its to big to play AI on my computer and needs to much work to be good. I actually think the WAW-map is really good. I have made some key changes to it also. making afghanistan bigger and including the arctic sea for example. I do not agree that south america would be involved much in such a conflict. We do miss the Namibia/Congo in africa, but its not critical. You still get to play out the war in the african horn.
What it all comes down to is that you have to weigh your ability to mod and the time you can invest against your ambitions.
But if someone would be willing to help i would very much appreciate it. For example one unit that i actually miss is a helicopter unit. I someone could make such a unit for me i would appreciate it. Also if someone could design lend lease events between China-Soviet and USA-Nato. If someone is interested they can post here. But tell me before they start modding so that i can stop while they work.
Have upploaded new version in scenario bank.
Made Rocket Artillery available for all regimes to produce from the start.
Btw. Looked at the map. South america is actually there and there is also room to implement some sort of african conflict. Any suggestions of which?
Is this one ready for approval? Or did you want to do some more tweaking? I notice it went to the approval area rather than sandbox, but thought I'd check with you before I started looking at it.
Yeah. I am starting to find small factual errors. For example it seems Somalia and Sudan were alligned with NATO and Ethiopia with USSR. Not the other way around. Also the soviet should still be in afghanistan. Not on the border. Hmm.. illt tweak the terrain a little so that they are in the border. But they have to be out of Kabul for the Mujaheddin to have supply.
Seems i have some work to do
Any other horrible OOB misses? Keep in mind that its on a very grand scale. Is USSR forces to weak?
Here is a revised Middle east. Added some PLO Brigades. Israel was killing of the arabs to easy.
