Kamikaze Night attack

Post by Rikk30 »

I downloded 3.0 and really am enjoying myself with it. Good work people in updateing this classic game.

I enjoy the updated icons and map very nice.

One thing that surprised me though was a night attack. There was not a successful one till mid 1945. I don't remember a night Kamikaze attack Historiclly were there night kamikaze attacks?

It was a good attack though. It sent one CVL to the bottom and damaged another to the tune of 64% damage! That hurt. Hoping to limp it back to Saipan. I have played PacWar since its original release in the mid 90's and don't recall ever getting more than a destroyer dinged up maybe a DE went down but nothing bigger. The Jap computer just had some good dice I suppose. Have to be a little more careful now.

I love this game!

Gotta go and try and limp that CVL to port

Night Attacks

Post by mogami »

Hi, yes there were night attacks, like in the game they often failed to locate a target. The airgroups that hit you must have had decent training I have found they need to be at least a 70 to loacte targets at night. (but it is really worth while as Japanese to have a few well trained groups flying large aircraft for suprise night attacks. If nothing else it lowers US daylight cap just a pinch
(he has to put a few groups on night fighter ops)
I have 1200 70+ aircraft trained and waiting in one of my PBEM games my problem is the computer refuses to allow me special attacks even though it is March 45 and the US has captured Saipain (last non 3.0 game still in progress) (only time this has ever happened)

I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!

Thanks for the info. I may play the Japs next time and keeping trained kamikazes may even things up a bit.

Btw CVL Bataan made it to Palau. Saipan was closer but more heat was there. That was a tough turn. A CVE went down as well as several DE.
