Strategy guide worth it?

Post by Llyranor »

I've noticed a strategy guide up at the Matrix Store. Is it worth it?

How extensive is the general strategy section? Would it apply to other AA games as well, or just HTTR? Are there any plans on making strategy guides for COTA and future AA games as well?

Thanks!

Bump.
Recently purchased HTTR and wondered the same thing. Having downloaded the massive Hints and Tips document so nicely devleoped here, wasn't sure whether it more or less replaces the Guide. For new players - I imagine those who frequent the forum for this and for COTA are on average pretty advanced players.

From what I remember this is a pretty impressive piece of work with Historical information and OOB's as they relate to the game historical scenarios, and strategy/tactics as well. It is a good reference for Market-Garden to own even if you don't own the game.

Thanks, simovitch! Appreciate the information. Sounds like a well put together book.
I am getting a lot of useful info from Mark Shot's volumes.

I dug out my copy and just as I remember it is quite an impressive document and worth the investment. There is a lot of stuff in here that is still applicable to COTA and will be for BFTB as well.

Here is a scan of the Table of Contents:

If you go back far enough, you will find that the MG portion was actually part of the RDOA manual published and sold by Battlefront. The Game Guide written by Steve and with some stuff adapted from my forum work was completely new material.

Steve focused on the OODA Loop by Boyd in the Guide. In many ways similiar to my style covered in my mini-guides, but, of course, I lacked the rigorous scholarly presentation as put forth in the Guide.

Also, for those unfamiliar with WWII weaponry the TOE was a nice find. However, many have played other war games like CM and know what an HMG42 or Nebelwerfer is.

mmm...it looks like it's fallen off the website. I'll ask Erik what's happened to it.

I see it on the third page of the "All Games" category. Is it not showing up there for you?

Thanks Erik. It doesn't appear when I do a search with the filter set to "Panther Games".
