CHS Installation

Post by hbrsvl »

Hi-I'm at my wits end. I have tried & tried to install this mod, but I can't do it.

Yes, I DLed A.Brown's 2 maps and the pwhex file. Plus I've DLed the base scenario, plus an actual scenario(155). To the best of my knowledge I have unzipped everthing where it's supposed to be.

I've tried unzipping a second & third time. Each time I've been told "...file already exists..."

The only thing I can see that's happened is, when I go to scenario selection I see in scen 004"004 South Pacific(H).

Advice, please. Thanks, Hugh Browne

You're supposed to overwrite the existing files.

The old files: stock WitP.
The new files: CHS.

All CHS files replace stock WitP files (except for the scenarios, since they use slots that are empty in stock WitP.

VSWG- Yes, But how? Do the CHS files automatically overwrite? If not what steps do I have to take?

Thanks, HB

Just for completness, I might add that many players install CHS on top of a separate copy of WITP. This perserves your original copy of WITP so you can still play stock.

Depending on your operating system settings you may be able to copy an existing installation into a different folder and have it run, however, for those challenged by operating system settings and changing same, the "tried and true" way to create a second installation of WITP, is just to install it from scratch into a new folder.

Then you can install CHS on top of that second installation.

On my three primary computers, I have nine copies of WITP installed, two copies of WPO, none of UV and 3 of AE, so it is not unusual to have multiple copies of these games installed.

You should have an option to replace the files in the "...file already exists..." window.

BTW, what part of CHS isn't working? The map art? The map data (no base at Aden/Panama)? The scenario?

If you want, I can walk you through the installation step by step. The starting point is, as Joe already said, a copy of a working WitP install.
