My 2-cents for FREE!

WW2: Road to Victory is the first grand strategy release from IQ Software/Wastelands Interactive, which covers World War II in Europe and the Mediterranean. Hex-based and Turn-based, it allows you to choose any combination of Axis, Allied, Neutral, Major or Minor countries to play and gives you full control over production, diplomacy, land, air and naval strategy. Start your campaign in 1939, 1940 or 1941 and see if you can better the results of your historical counterparts. A series of historical events and choices add flavor and strategic options for great replayability.

Brilliant. Played Poland scenario and my initial thoughts are great. Didn't even read the manual (apart from checking one or two things out) which, in my eyes is the sign of a great game...the fact you can pick it up and run and then learn when you can be bothered.

Really enjoyed the Poland scenario and the game looks good from what I've seen.

Thank you to those that persuaded me. Thanks to those who posted their thoughts (positive and negative) and thanks to the devs. A little gem is here. Was going to bed at 10, it's now 11...one more time...always the sign of a good game. [&o]

Forgot to say...was slightly underwhelmed by the map and counters, but then I found the counters with symbols and the classic map and I am chuffed to bits...looks great. Plain, but great.

Ah no Matrix,
I wanted to save some of my hard earned money. [8|]
But now LarryP got heavily excited & JD is stepping in.
So its nearly inevitable, that I couldn´t resist any longer to purchase this game too. (But there are still some doubts)
Guess, I will force me to follow this foerum for quite a little while & then ...[:@][;)][:'(]
(But btw, I would really like to see the "Pacific Theatre" in the near future. I feel I have too often invaded Poland, France & Russia. They need a little rest & I would like to see something different (for me, as I´m a european [;)] )

I too feel the same. WW2 in Europe has been done plenty. However when a neat game like this comes along it's different. [;)]

As far as the Pacific arena, have you tried "War In The Pacific", "Uncommon Valor", and "War Plan Orange?" All three give that and plenty of it.

I have UV, but didn´t got into it. Never tried WitP (as it is the same engine), or WPO. Been looking for a long time for a game that covers the Pacific War in a more easier way. [;)] (I´m just a casual player...)

How about WinSPWW2? It's free unless you buy the CD version which has a few more extras. There are a lot of Pacific scenarios and even campaign stuff. Here is the link:

Hi Larry,
thx for your nice advice.
Looked at the screenshots & it reminds me (if i´m not misstaken) on JTCS (which I own & like).
I just wanted to kick the japanese butt on a bit greater scale. [;)] (Even considered TOAW, but hmm..)
But I don´t want to hijack this thread with discussing my game preferences.
Thx again, & hopefully we will meet us here again, if I couldn´t resist...
