Small Operational Scenarios?

Post by wwhitman »

Hey all. Just got AT yesterday and am enjoying the game so far. I've just messed around with a handful of scenarios, and looked at the Scenario Bank on the AT.org Web site, and I wanted to ask if there are some more operational level scenarios out there that I'm missing? I generally enjoy the operational-size games more than the theater-size ones, and my preferred scale is the VI Corps at Salerno scenario or something like TOAW's Operation Cobra (Patton's breakout from Normandy). I believe that was single-division in size. Does AT's combat engine handle smaller scale battles well? For instance, does it function well with battalion-size units and small maps, or does everything really need to be regiment-size and up?

I might try designing a small scale scenario or two if there's any interest.

WW,

I think it handles the operational level pretty well. One feature I put on wish list long long time ago was ability to lock or limit Units, ie, max number and type of SFTypes in unit. But that hasn't happened, and I don't expect it will happen. But you can as a designer, take over control of sftype production yourself, and by limiting reinforcements,, etc, you can moderately well model operational sized units.

I would be interested to see your smaller scenarios, and I am sure I am not alone. Its a great game and some people have produced some fantastic, but massive scenarios, that are highly commendable but I will never have the time to play in full.  Smaller scenarios would be very welcome.

Cherbourg is a good scenario to play. Small enough to keep an overview.

Download on the AT Homepage.
