Mix of fantasy and hardboiled detective novels. They center around Harry Dresden, a wizard and private investigator in modern-day Chicago. Magic is real, along with all sorts of monsters and problems for Harry. I found an audiobook copy of the first novel, read by James Marsters (of Buffy/Angel/Torchwood fame), and it's great fun.

Sounds pretty good T. I thurst for a really good, imaginative, well written novel. Everything I've seen lately is junk....pure junk.

Bernie Mac was great, I remember watching him on The Orginal Kings of Comedy.

Bloody shame that he is gone. Only 50 too. Makes you wonder....

Have you ever read any Orson Scott Card, NG? He's famous for his "Ender" series of books, the first of which, "Ender's Game", is fantastic. Another one of his is a book I tend to read annually, "Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Colombus". I love that book!

Another of my favorite summertime authors is Paul Erdman. He has written several novels that are best described as financial thrillers. They are light reading, and quite entertaining if you have any interest in finance at all. I read 4 of them on my recent trip to the Turks. [8D]

Bakerman you have my sympathy. My wife is an Engineer and works weird schedules depending on deadlines. Hopefully you wife gets some comp time to make up for the schedule[:)].

She does. She works 24 over the weekend and gets paid for 36. She is filling in for a tech that had surgery but it sure makes it hard on the home life. I work 11 hour days monday through friday and we only get the mornings together plus add in 3 kids from 8 down to 5 it makes it tough.

Orson Scott Card is a great sci-fi writer. The short story version of Ender's Game that appeared in There Will Be War was incredible short fiction. Other Sci-fi writers that I like are David Brin and Frank Herbert. Mote in Gods Eye by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle is also terrific.

I just started a pbem vs Khyberbill? I think thats his handle. First pbem I've played in over a year now. It is slow starting but I'm getting back into it.
