PBEM observations

Post by Hoyt Burrass »

About 5 turns in to a PBEM match with a friend. He is Germany/Italy, I am UK/France/Poland. Some observations

The Germans were presented with the French Maginot Line Choices, not the French. Should not the French make those decisions?

In Addition, a German invasion of France in November of 39, through Luxembourg does not free up the French Troops frozen in the Maginot Line and on the border with Belgium. Shouldn't an invasion of French soil release those troops?

British Fleets in the North Sea Zone are able to Intercept German Fleets in the Baltic. As a result the Kriegsmarine has been destroyed attempting to support the invasion of Denmark. Not really realistic in our opinion. We feel that interception should be limited to the sea zone the units are in and not extend to adjacent zones.

Comments made here point out some problems with the supply system, that we feel are valid, and make the German's war a tougher one. perhaps supply determination could be made at the beginning of each player turn rather than at the beginning of the overall turn.

All for now, thanks for listening to the many comments so far, and here's hoping that trend continues

All the events are resolved at the end of the last player's turn so only he can see them. It's a problem in PBEM games, yes, we'll think about some mechanism to fix this.

As for the french units freezed - they are unfreezed a turn after Belgium is attacked, if only Luxembourg was attacked by Germany, than that's the reason. It's an exploit and we'll fix it.

Will check that problem with british intercepting germans in baltic. This should not happen. We will also take a closer look to the supply system.

OK, the problem with allied fleets intercepting Germans in Baltic is simple: Denmark is in allie's zone of influence and when the war is declared they join allies. Copenhague controls access to Baltic, so when Germany declares war on Denmar, allies get access to Baltic and can intercept the invasion. As a fix, we'll remove Denmark from allied zone of influence, they won't join allies when war is declared and Baltic will not be accessible.
