Tiling textures in MS

Post by benpark »

I have a model that I've been working on that needs to have a single texture repeat over a series of boxes (which are windows in the model). I have regrouped them as two separate groups, so that I may assign two different window images.

Have I completely screwed up by grouping them? Is there any way to "ungroup" models in MS? If I haven't messed up, how can I get the one image to repeat over these window models?

Ben,

You can ungroup by selecting the faces you want to move to a new group and then press the Regroup button.

The best way to do want I think you want to do is to just start with a single window. Texture it, then clone (duplicate it) as many times as you need rather than model it duplicate it and then try and texture map all of them. You can do it but it is easier to just delete all the current instances. Make window1, window2. Texture both to your satistfaction then duplicate (Ctrl+D).

Regards

Thanks, Stridor. I scrapped that one and started fresh. I'll try that method next, though.

Texturing was something I thought I would enjoy, but it's a fresh version of hades for the most part. I'm trying to make these look less "cartoony", any tips?

This will be the lot I will be sending over (plus any other billboard models I get done). SAF_Biffa did the nice job on the textures on the "Pharmacy" (far right), and the far back one is just a retexture of the old "warehouse model" by me and Biffa- the rest by me on my 3d learning curve.

I just noticed that other buildings cast shadows in the scene editor, but these are not. Any way to make them do so?

The MM sets shadows for you automatically.

In the sceneditor set shadowtype to shadowmap
