Arayat is a town in the northern portion province of Pampanga. It was named for Fernando de Arayat, a Spanish encomiendero. The mountain is actually named Sinukuan, or Bandak Alaya.

I don't know that - it may be true - but

at least I am balikbayan - there is no proper translation - but I do not enter the Philippines as an alien in spite of never being a citizen -
and I recognize the place names -

there is no reason to be uncivil - and it is also dishonorable to break your own word about being civil as a condition of participation

you can have no honor if you don't honor your own word

Well, I had a look in Conway's Volume 1, but for some reason they didn't find any of them worthy of an illustration... Sorry.

Anyway, isn't this too puny to be worth including?

Oh yeah, totally puny; but she's one of Don's Babies and the only one he requested, that I can't put a good graphic together for.

Don thinks she might be Spanish Callao class. Anything in Conway's for Spanish gunboats at all??

Plenty, but like I said, no illustrations. Here's a scan from the US Navy section in the 1860-1905 volume. It seems appropriate:

Not a lot, Mindanao was one of the 550 tonners built in the late 20s.

Turns out Arayat was a quasi-schooner rig, sort of like Villalobos, but Villalobos is 12 years newer and 30% bigger. Maybe I'll just cut her down and use her anyway. Oh well ...

Dogonne it! Been chasing down that darn Spanish gunboat, but it turns out there were three Arayats.

#1) The storage tanker USS Arayat (IX-134) built Glasgow, 1918, taken and commissioned 1944, 430’, 12,000 tons (Dspl fl). Definitely not this one.

#2) Spanish gunboat Arayat, built Manila Ship Co, Cavite, 1888, 117’, 202 tons which became US gunboat Arayat (1), 121’, 243 tons; decom and sold at Cavite 1910.

#3) Philippine revenue cutter Arayat, built F. Schichau Werft, Danzig, launched May 1931, 190’, 903 register tons. This one is your Huckelberry.

Web sources get cornfuzed. Some list the Arayat as IX-134, built 1888, 903 tons; some give Japanese P-105 as ex-Spanish Arayat; etc.

Think combinedfleet has a good read on who was what. They show Japanese P-105 as ex-Philippine customs cutter Arayat #3.

So any of ya’ll got a read on this? All I want is a pic.

I've tried cooking with liqoured racoon, but he wouldn't keep his paws out of the pot!
