Art movement

Post by british exil »

transferring artillery after bombardment to a safe spot.

Read this in an AAR. tm.asp?m=1866376&mpage=3&#1889551

How do you move Art after bombardment? When I do a fire mission I have no AP's left for movement. Strategic transfer out of the pic as I still need AP's.

Do you really need AP:s for strategic transfer? i dont think so, but become unsure when you say so. I think they are using strategic transfer.

I also read about it. Nifty trick. But will you not loose a lot of readiness when you strategic transfer a corps every turn? How does this effect the art corps?

@ Grymme

Just tried it out you don't need AP's for Strategic transfer. But you lose 50 readiness. It may be better to lose 50 readiness than all Art.

Maybe if the crunch came you could fire and move back a few hexes. Depending on how much firepower you have it would be quite difficult to really hamper or destroy the enemy position by moving back and forward.
Ok if you're in a defensive position, but if you are on the offensive, I'm not sure if this tactic would bring any results. Seille did mention this tactic and he was in a denfensive setup.

@ Seille
Tell us more about your tactic where did you get the idea? Did you make it up?
How far do you move you Art? Out of sight of enemy or out of airforce range?

Hmm, some nice land cap in your HQs is a big requirement for this.  Trucks for the win.

The loss in readiness from strategic transfers is only until the end of your opponent's turn. You will find your artillery at full readiness at the beginning of your next turn (unless they suffered losses from an attack or you have inadequate supply).

I also use strategic movement for my artillery on the offensive. It works like this: Use your artillery's firepower and APs to soften up the enemy for a ground attack, probably also use aerial bombing in this phase. Then you conduct your ground attack and your successful forces advance. I move my HQ units up with the advancing troops and then strategic move my artillery up to the same hex as the HQ or another convenient hex to position them for the next turn's attack. As long as you stack them with your main body of troops, they shouldn't be too vulnerable.
