How does the game end?

Post by mavraamides »

Playing as France I've defeated Germany and Italy.

The USSR has a massive army built up on my eastern border (which is in Poland now [:D]) and I have a not nearly as massive army waiting for them.

Problem is, I can't declare war on the USSR. The interface won't let me.

Meanwhile, there is no Axis power for me to attack as far as I can tell.

But the game doesn't appear to be over.

What do I do? Click next turn 100 times till I get to the end of the game?

Seems like I should either be able to go to war with the USSR (dragging my allies in with me) or the game should be over or I should be able to skip to the end of the game or something.

I guess I would have thought eliminating all Axis powers would be a win and the game would be over.

What? So if all Axis powers are gone, the game goes on forever? [:D]

That's what it seems like. I can't declare war on the USSR. Unless they declare war on the Allies, this game will never end!

Well with me, it ends in 9 June 1940...because it keeps crashing...everytime I end turn, it crashes...nothing...just sits there and I get my normal Windows cursor and the "game" cursor sits over the enr turn button

I've gone WAY more than 34 turns since the Axis fell. I also notice my diplomacy points are stuck at 31. Do they need to get to 100 for me to declare war on Russia?

Yes, you should have 100.
It's weird you have stuck with 31 (but OTOH French wern't warriors during WWII :P) points, can you send me your save game?

The last thing you can do is a small cheat, hit F1 and add some DP for France

OK, I'll send the save tonight when I get home. BTW, this is not the latest patch. I had already started the game before the patch came out.

I like the cheat though. I really want to see what my teched up Level 3 infantry can do against the Russian juggernaught. I better get help from the US and UK fast or I'll be racing back to the safety of the Maginot line for the 3rd time!

Of course, I should just hold my position till the game ends but what's the fun in that? France has tasted victory and now the Spirit of Napoleon compels me to finish what he couldn't!

Then this game has achieved a realism no other WW2 game ever has; it brings you up to the present day, through the Rock-n-Roll and Disco eras and into the X-generation computer age. Your units must sit through time, with the divisions no doubt being replenished by subsequent generations of their offspring.

My hats off to the devs.

(kidding). The game has to end. Maybe in a future patch.
