Map Editor?

Post by madorosh »

Where is it? How do I get it?

I see reference to this in some threads but no sticky on where to get it or how to use it. I tried the Modding sub forum but found an old thread.

This seems like a major breakthrough in keeping people's interest up - if so, shouldn't there be an announcement in the main forum?

So where can I get it from? [:)]

It's just a beta and hasn't been released and I don't know when and how it will be released.

If you want to beta test it then send a PM to Stridor ... he's been requesting some more testers.

The Map Maker (MM) is quite far along now, but there is more work to do on it.

I am actually planning on writing up an online tutorial on how the MM works and what it can do and I am looking for map ideas.

So if anyone has any *good* research on a map they would like to see (RL pictures, elevation data etc)

Please post it and I will consider doing that map (preferably a rural map, although at the rate in which guys like SAF_Biffa and Benpark are doing city models, a town/city map is also possible)

If not I will just do something off GE.

Regards

S.

PM received - thanks! I had a series of 2km x 2km maps done for the Combat Mission: Campaigns game that may be inching towards release. No idea if that will be part of the release or not; some of us were ejected (I think - we woke up one morning to find our access to the forums cut) from the beta team. I don't think the data I have is complete, nor would they necessarily be appropriate to PC, but it might be interesting to compare and contrast. Might have to wait til CM:C is released - since technically I have access to stuff that is not mine; the maps were done by a forum poster named Sergei from the BFC boards. The neat part is that they cover about 200 square km, in sequence with each other, and are done from a real world Russian map of an area that the GD Regiment actually fought over in autumn 1941.

For those that are interested in what the new Map Maker can do, I have started a new tutorial thread in the mods section.
