.044 torpedo tracking issue?

Post by erict »

Is anyone having issues with torpedos? Playing as Russia it seems like the SET-80s don't guide or lockon to any targets. Not sure if it's a game or database issue or maybe scenario????

The Hunt for Red October scenario and the other was the No Place Like Home scenario.

In No Place Like Home, I managed to get all my subs around the US carriers. Shot about 12 SET-80 from close range and none of them guided. The wake homing torps 65-76s did guide and eventually hit. I eventually took out the carrier with Shipwrecks from close range.

I haven't seen this in previous version, torps in range were always very lethal.

The newer database incorporates more accurate torpedo seeker acquisition ranges. In the case of the USET-80 (I assume this was the torpedo in question), the active/passive seeker has been assigned an acquisition range of 2,000 yards (probably a bit on the optimistic side). Its not wire guided, so you need to be quite close to your target to be assured of a decent hit probability.
