Ok,i have a dilemma,i want both the games but cant afford it.i have played Waterloo and one of the Civil war games years ago.Which of the 2 offer the best value for money?I am siding with the ACW game but as the Napoleon one has Age of Sail its bugging me to buy that one.

ACW - you can create various sccenarios...it does have the day to night stuff embedded....3 day battles, cavalry, supply, mortar barges in the battle of shiloh.....hmmmmmmm

Cool but are there any mods for the Napoleonic one to become the Crimean War?I wanna charge them GUNS!

well i got the ACW one and will get the Napoleonic one come payday.One thing,is there any sound to accompany the game,music and sound effects etc?if so they seem not to be working on my copy.

Ok Andy....like in the CS Series.....the menus are quite alike...

The music files work in the same way as the CS same as the Battle Sounds......I have to look at the menu's when I get Home....also you have little video clips you can play as the battle rips on as well.....when you cannon fires the AVI file kicks and and shows a a real crew manning a cannon and fire

Yep got the video shots of the action.I think all i needed to do was reboot after downloading.A quick Question as im not well up on ACW history,are the scenarios/campaigns listed in chronological order?

they should be....you will great enjoyment out of it....I would suggest gettysburg, hypo stuart arrives....that is a good one ....

I did locate a vicksburg mod for the game...very cool campaign.... i think it is a pre HPS thing

It should be working.  I always turn off the visual and sound effects.  That is rather odd.  Ask for some tech support at the appropraite spot on this forum.

Done so.I have even redowloaded it to a different machine and its the same,no sound ion the Gettysburg bit.

Andym,
IIRC Gettyburg is the only "scenario" without background music. There is no "background music" option in the "Option-Menue".
I´m a little sad about this as well.

Gettysburg had no background music at all. Why Matrix didn't add some I have no idea.

I didn't know that either.

However, since I quickly get bored with the music, I turn it off on all my games. I lose the animations quickly too... they take up too much time to play.

ahhh,ok.I feel better knowing that i havent been seen off or mucked the install up.Is there any way of importing the files from the other scenarios into gettysburg?
