Another test run

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Well Harley is hunting for a bug we need fixed, I am running one of the short games to watch and see how it affects the game (and I get to play around a bit)

so will again run the Big Week Campaign, it is short enough to run in a manageable time, and still show the areas I am looking for

okay here are the target damage levels when the battle begins

the LW is a little slow on take off, I forgot it is Feb, the LW likes to wait until daylight to take off !, which means the Allies can get some early raids on to the coast with out getting hit, but, most times, they not going to hit much, because of the lack of light

with some timeing, you can get almost to the target, just as the sun comes up, but it is a pain, if the idea is to draw up the enemy !

two Decoy raids were sent out, one to a BB site close to Paris, which didn't pick up much of any defence

the other to a CFAC close to Amsterdamn, but it was covered with clouds ! so no damage

lucky for the decoy, they are taking alot of damaged bombers, but since it is a short range mission, they got a chance to fly home, if it was a deeper raid, those would pretty much all but losses

in the snap, you see the raid flying back to England but it still shows a line (that means it didn't bomb)

the others are the main force raids starting to cross the channel, and some sweeps

and just in case, the white boxes are the LW units that are active, the blue boxes are the units out of gas, returning to base, the Oragne boxes are the active Allies, while if you see red boxes, those are Allied units returning to base

also in this shot, it shows how the LW tends to hang around behind the raid, this is why damage planes get toar apart

you can see the sort of Highlight circle, a FW just bounced a damaged 17, and as the message box shows, shot it down

well, I am suppost to be the master at plotting and planning

but here you can see a mistake in plotting, the return path for the decoy was set too high/too far north, compared to the main force (I was trying to skirt a Flak Trap in the area)

but, even though a mistake, my boys are still doing well, but with a better High Command, the losses would be lower and the enemy losses higher

ahhh, more mistakes, the hassle of being in the data all the time, you get out of touch with playing the game

first blood to me, looks like I got a good raid in on the large ALUM site (a 2ndary target to be honest, but ALUM is needed for aircraft production, so still a good target to not allow to work at full strength)

(guessing I nailed it to 60-70% damage by the points I gained from the raid)

I miss on the big BMW plant !!!!

but nail the smaller one next to it

two raids into Italy hit there targets, the raid into east is a strange one, they do not respond until the trip home, for most of the mission, it is damage vs damage, right as the coast starts to be seen, the fighters wake up and tear into the enemy forces

my battle plan has gone well, even with the mistakes, would be better if I could hit more of my targets

Bad Bombing, got a couple of the targets, but the two importent ones are missed (and I didn't do much to the ALUM after all !!!!)

but I hammered the LW, kind of took a beating myself

raid to the ALUM site, I forgot to add fighters to it !!!!, got lucky

hmmm, I think I am losing, if the target is not cloud covered, I got bad bombing

I am bleeding the LW, but I am losing many also

morale on my side is poor, it must be worse on the other side

time to get serious

turn 3, giving some of the boy a rest, let them rebuild and gain a little morale, while I go after fewer targets

can't believe my luck in this one, another round of clouds, I get one AFAC And nail Bussing NAG

(been getting decent weather, just ending up with a cloud bank at the right place at the wrong time)

end up bombing Paris while trying for a EFAC, going to get chewed out by the boss for that

more poor plotting, timeing, I should know better

ahhh, more bad weather, unreal

get one out of 3 in the north, and one out of 3 in the south, but my decoy paid off (plastered Hamm)

my losses are around 5%, the LW is around 11%, but my morale is shot

gain two points this turn, 3 days to go, and need 3 more points

LOL, think I got nailed by Harley this time around, think I got some bad recon, some of them raids I thought I did bad on, I think I nailed the target

had a good bombing turn, but very poor points, so still need 3 points (I need 1000 points for 2 points, need 1040 for 3)
