Delete Load Game saves?

I have many saves under the "load game" menu.

Can I delete them by going into the appropriate save folder and deleting them?

Or should I delete them _ONE AT A TIME ("are you sure" X n)(!)_ in the game, so as to prevent something bad(TM)?

You probably can delete them through explorer ... I never tried.
I didn't see any file that references all the save locations.

Yep you can just delete the all in one go via explorer
