Random Map maker

Post by spellir74 »

------
I've been occ following this random map controvery ("We want it or no deal"). Looked in there abouts a few days ago (8/14ish) and wow...

I 'splain:

----
Being able to make scene maps from real terrain, google earth captures (bitmaps) is A break through invention!!

Not just this game but for everything. Do you understand what you've done?

...Aint life fascinating and ironic...

People wanted, for PzC, random map creation, not just more set maps. So Matirx puts a guy on it for selling point / "spec
lists" /customer appeal reasons. And he winds up coming up with a solution way cooler than just random map generation.

--------
...If people can fight over their local terrain --or any real-life terrain-- ... Wow.

Maybe I'm just unwittingly blowing smoke up Stridor's ass.
or
Maybe he should ask for more money.

I think fighting over/playing on real terrain for any game (not just this WWII one) is intriguing to say the least.

Though note, I've been wrong before when it comes to understanding the mind of the Great Unwashed.

I have to agree, what Stridor has come up with is quite amazing.

All you guys creating Map Maker things (grass, buildings etc) are doing swell too.

I didn't really follow all that until recently.

=========
What about creating place-able wreckage (tanks etc, even plane crashes) for scenario makers? Eg relief mission to battle in progress.

This is similar to the first Kark map, with the permanent, set-on-map tanks. BUT these would be place-able by Battle Makers (maybe even RBG). Savvy?

ATM wrekage is tied to the map not the scenario.

The new map maker is pretty comprehensive and quick to make maps now. I think future scenario designers will make a new map along with their scenario. There are several wrecks (tanks and truks) and dead men (in various poses) which can be easily added to maps from the MM. No crashed planes just right now, sorry. That may change.

All wrecks now are Soviet. We do need some destroyed German stuff.
