Only rarely do I have enough turns to process. After the first few turns it is possible to process a turn every hour (for me anyway) - so I always look for more games.

11 Dec 1941 (Hawaii) 12 Dec (Tokyo/Manila)
The night turn began with BB Nevada hitting a mine at Molokai
Dutch sub KXVII missed an AP in the Gulf of Thailand
Ro-29 shelled, torpedoed and probably sank AK Berouw at Muntok, Banka Island
I-157 shelled, torpedoed and sank AK Capillo in the Philippine Sea
I-8 torpedoed a PC unit in an ASW TF at Bombay
A major surface action group (Nagato, Mutsu and Yamato plus CL Kiso and 8 DD) met PG Genessee and 4 AK North of Jolo - sinking the lot in a night surface battle. 11 torpedoes and 36 shells hit the 5 ships.
Immediately thereafter the same group engaged a very different group - with somewhat different results. USN PT-42/43/44 torpedoed BB Mutsu in an otherwise one sided action. DD John D Ford and DD Pope were sunk by 5 torpedoes and 16 shell hits. AS Canopus and AK St Quentin were sunk by 3 torpedoes and 20 shell hits. The Asiatic Fleet LCM unit escaped unharmed.

RE: RHSEBO Test 11E vs PDavis: Wow - we have a real war!
This is an educational game. Paul wanted to learn from an experienced player - and I suppose it ends when he gets tired of it. We do have an unusual problem in the save game file: some Japanese ship images are for some reason not visible during some combats - yet you can call them up just fine if you look at the same ships.
Hi.
I experienced similar problems in the past. I found the fix in the "Standardized Artwork Set" thread, page nine.
Post 257 describes the problem:
Having a little problem with the new artwork, which is likely caused by my installation error (I am no computer expert). When the Allied art came out a couple of weeks ago, I downloaded it, replaced the old artwork and everything worked fine. This weekend, I downloaded the revised Allied artwork and the new Japanese artwork and installed it. I am currently playing as Japan vs the AI. During the orders phase, everything is OK. The new artwork shows up (and looks great), but when I run the combat, the ships do not show up in the combat animations. The background is there and the script tells what is going on, but no ships or subs. If it is an air attack on ships, the planes are there, but not the ships. Any suggestions on what I did wrong or on a fix? Thanks.
And post 267 came up with the fix that worked for me:
Hi Guys I'm new to WitP, and came across this standardized art set which I must say is stunning [X(], After I zipped the the new files into the relevent folders and restarted the game I also had the same problem as duncan, on checking the content of the original JapShip_Back and JapShipShill_Transp files to the new ones I noticed that the files JnSide0000.bmp and JnShill0000.bmp were missing, on copying the files from the original folders to the new Standardized art work folders, the problem was cured.
Hope this helps. If I am misunderstanding your problem, please except my apologies.

The night turn began with AK Kota Radja hitting a sub laid mine at Merak/Serang (that is, in the Sunda Strait).
An Allied PC unit detected mines at Muntok, Banka Island - but didn't hit any - nor clear any.
AK Bicol was sunk at Jolo in surface action with Nagato, Yamato, a CL and 7 DDs (duh). The SAG then bombarded Jolo causing 118 casualties, 2 guns lost, 1 vehicle lost, and 21 other hits.

Later in the night they fired 30 more shots and got 3 more hits on an LCVP unit - resulting in a further 107 casualties. These are basically CD units defending - although one of them should be in bad shape - having retreated from Lahaina after engaging a brigade.
CD guns at Davao fired 74 shots, but scored only one minor hit on DM Kyosai. 307 Japanese casualties during landings. Later in the night they fired 8 more shots - and got 2 hits on Ishizaki. Good night for Allied CD guns.

RE: RHSEBO Test 11E vs PDavis: Wow - we have a real war!
At the end of the day a wholly Dutch surface TF based on BC de Zeven Provencien - with CL Kijkduin, De Ruyter and Tromp - and 2 destroyers - beat up the Yamato/Nagato TF - scoring 16 hits on 6 ships - setting 5 on fire - and badly damaging DD Arare. The larger IJN force of 2 BB, 1 Cl and 7 DD scored only 8 gun hits - and set only CL Kijkduin on fire. This battle in the Visayas.
Dutch sub KXVII missed an AP in the Gulf of Thailand.
I-166 torpedoed CL Adelaide at Rabaul. She sank - with 29 casualties - indicating she had loaded troops on board.
I-155 torpedoed DMS Ballarat and Warnambool - hitting each with a torpedo - at Darwin.
35 000 Japanese attacked 13 000 Chinese on the rail line NE of Pakhoi - causing the 3 Field Armies to retreat off the line to Pakhoi. 410 Japanese casualties and 10 guns lost to 99 Chinese casualties and 4 gun lost. 4:1 odds.
An attack by 7600 Japanese on a Chinese Guerilla Regiment failed - in spite of 39 to 1 odds - 16 Japanese casualties to 37 Allied casualties - the Allies did not retreat. I love the Chinese guerilla units.
15 000 Japanese attacked 6 000 Filipinos at Lucena Luzon - forcing them to retreat to Manila. We are now beside Manila - and in a position to stop production there (by moving into it). 42:1 odds. 112 Japanese casualties, 1 gun lost, 1 vehicle lost to 45 Allied casualties, 4 guns lost.
24 000 Japanese attacked 32 000 Allies (including supply sink) at Alor Star - it did not fall. 1:1 odds. 246 Japanese casualtis and 20 guns lost to 124 Allied casualties, 4 guns lost and 1 vehicle lost. Attacking units not demoralized - so we attack again tomorrow - with more air support.
Allied bombardment at Davao was ineffective.
Undefended Khorat Thailand fell - making supplies flow more efficiently.

13 Dec 1941 (Hawaii Time) 14 Dec (Tokyo/Manila Time)
The night turn began with 7 IJN DD attacking - and missing - Dutch sub KXII in the Gulf of Thailand. Later KXII attacked and missed Thai AK Anthong.
I-124 torpedoed and sank ML Pro Patria at Muntok, Banka Island.
USN sub SS Gudgeon torpedoed CVL Chitose SW of Lahaina. In turn she was attacked - and hit - by 3 DD and CA Atago.
Ro-37 torpedoed and sank ML William van der Zaan at Palembang.
Ro-32 torpedoed and sank AK Schwartenkonsk at Jahore Bahru - but she didn't sink immediately.
BB Yamato and BB Nagato, CL Kiso, and 6 DD engaged in the first of a long series of night and day surface actions. They had been in action vs the same force the day before - and got the worst of it - so they entered this series ammo depleted and damaged. The first action was vs the same Dutch force - BC de Zeven Provencien, 3 Cl and 2 DM - as had beat them up the night before. It too was ammo depleted and damaged. This time the IJN got the better outcome - scoring 35 hits on 5 ships - CL Kijkduin being heavily damaged and CL De Ruyter set on fire. The Dutch only scored 3 hits - on Nagato - achieving little. All these actions at Brunei.
Next four old USN WWI era four pipers ran in - and scored 11 hits on 5 ships. IJN scored 76 hits on all four ships - sinking Edwards and Whipple outright - and badly damaging DD Alden.
I-155 torpedoed AK Vyner Brooke at Darwin. A PC unit attacked and missed the sub - both at the time of the attack and again later in the night.
DD Encounter and DD Jupiter attacked and missed I-7 at Columbo.
HMAS Adelaide bombarded Rabaul again - causing 8 casualties and 1 gun lost - in spite of being torpedoed the day before.
USN sub SS Swordfish was detected and missed by an unidentified AS unit.
USN DD Flusser and DD Lamson detected, localized, attacked and hit I-15 at Palmyra.
I-8 torpedoed a PC unit at Bombay.

18 Nells torpedoed and sank AK Vitorlock in the middle of the South China Sea.
6 Kates from a retiring CVE force did a long range strike East of Celebes. Surprisingly they put half their fish into targets:
2 into DD Pillsbur and 1 in to MSW Bittern and Tinch.
2 Blenheims missed CA Aoba at Singora. 24 fighters of three types on CAP achieved nothing
I-165 torpedoed and sank DMS Bunbury & Mildura at PM.
Japanese bombardment at Kota Bahru caused 29 casualties and 3 guns lost.

RE: RHSEBO Test 11E vs PDavis: Wow - we have a real war!
The afternoon air turn began with a strike on Lahaina by 5 B-17s of two types and 3 A-20s. 86 fighters of 4 types met them in the air. 3 A-20s and 3 B-17s were shot down - and the rest bugged out. 2 fighters were damaged by defensive fire.
3 B-10s missed an AK in the South China Sea.
3 more missed CA Furutaka at Singora.
12 more missed 3 cruisers at the same location.
6 more missed an AV and a DD near Borneo.
You cannot fault him for not trying - these are fairly good numbers for the Dutch
7 ROCAF SB-2s missed 2 transports at Swatow. These flew all the way from Chunking.
Thai AK Anthong was missed again - this time by 3 B-10s.
9 Vincents out of Kuala Lumpur torpedoed AP Neikai Maru and APD Patrol Boat No 45 at the tip of Indochina. They missed another AP.
3 B-18s missed an AK SW of Hawaii.
3 B-17s missed BB Kirishima - which shot down 1 with AAA fire - in the same area.
6 ki-48s missed an AK in the Bay of Bengal.
3 more put 3 bombs into the Burma 4th Barge Group near Bassein.
3 Ju-88s put two 50 kg bombs into ML Redstart in the Celebes Sea.
10 Ki-51s put 5 bombs into gunboat Tutuila at the Mouth of Manila Bay. They had 5 Ki-27s in escort and 4 P-40s on CAP achieved nothing.
Ro-37 torpedoed and sank a PC unit at Palembang.
A LONG surface action occured at Brunei between the same Yamato led SAG and a fresh pair of Allied cruisers - CL Dragon and Durban. Both were sunk - by 75 and 91 medium and light shell hits respectively. They scored 28 shell hits on all 9 IJN ships present - sinking CL Kiso, DD Oshio and DD Arashio. Only Yamato herself and DD Minigumo are not on fire or badly damaged.
7 DD arrived at Palmyra - and detected I-15 - hitting her twice - once badly - setting her on fire.
Ground assault at Kota Bahru failed to achieve odds: 396 Japanese casualties, 26 guns lost and 1 vehicle lost - in spite of combined arms - air support and arrival overland (no disorganization for landing). 25 Allied casualties. About 18 000 troops on both sides.
The Hopei Militia Regiment finally surrendered. 7600 Japanese troops achieved 92:1 odds - and lost 26 casualties and 1 gun. 1808 Allied casualties and 7 guns lost.
Ground assault at Davao reduced fortificatios to zero. 378 Japanese casualties and 21 guns lost. 25 Allied casualties and 1 gun lost.
Ground assault at Alor Star also failed to achieve odds. Over 25, 000 Japanese faced 32, 000 Allies (some of them in a supply sink). 214 casualties and 18 guns lost. 145 Allied casualties.
Allied bombardment at Davao was ineffective.
Shock attack by half a tank brigade on the Kra Isthmus achieved 812 to 1 Odds -- the 62 survivors of an RAF support unit retreated without losses. I think they just flat out ran - as would I in the circumstances. They are blocking the main Thai rail line and supplies for Malaya.
3 B-10s missed an AK in the South China Sea.
3 more missed CA Furutaka at Singora.
12 more missed 3 cruisers at the same location.
6 more missed an AV and a DD near Borneo.

RE: RHSEBO Test 11E vs PDavis: Wow - we have a real war!
The day turn began with 11 Blenheims and 4 Buffalos raiding Singora. 23 fighters of 3 types on CAP. 2 Buffalos and 1Blenheim lost.
1 Port Supply hit scored.
A JAAF attack on the ROC 50th Guerilla Regiment. No effect.
A JAAF raid on the USAAF 117th Base Force on Molokai caused 14 casualties.
16 Nells out of Truk caused 7 casualties to the Lark Force Battalion at Rabaul.
2 Dutch B-10s escorted by 2 Dutch Buffalos missed AV Sanuki Maru NE of Borneo.
8 B-17s and 3 B-18s, escorted by a pair of P-36s and a pair of P-40s - raided Lahaina. Meeting 15 Me-109s and 4 Ki-44s, 1 B-17, 1 B-17 and 1 P-40 were destroyed, while 4 B-17s were damaged. 1 Me-109 was also damaged. BB Yamashiro was missed - but BB Fuso was hit by two one thousand pound bombs (one deck hit, one turret hit). 4 fires were set. In spite of this, the ship suffered almost no damage: no floatation and only 3 system damage points. Nevertheless, a series of raids did wear down the CAP until it became ineffective - and the absense of carriers reduced the number - as did something else: far fewer flew than should have done.
The next Lahaina raid had 3 B-18s fail to penetrate - 1 was lost.
Next 4 B-17s of 2 types missed 2 BB - but did kill an Me-109.
3 Blenheims missed an AK at Singora. 23 fighters of 3 types were on CAP - and they got 1 Blenheim. The same thing applies here - a long series of raids eventually caused CAP to become ineffective.
The next Singora raid had 3 B-10s miss an AK.
Next 2 Blenheims missed a DD.
Then 7 Blenheims missed a CLAA and a DD.
Then 5 Swordfish, 3 B-10s and 3 Dutch Buffalos put 2 bombs into AK Asakasan Maru and also missed CLAA Yubari and CA Kinugasa.
Then 20 B-10s all penetrated, and missed 2 CA and 2 CLAA.
3 B-10s missed an AK in the Gulf of Thailand.
3 Ansons missed an ML at Kavieng.
1 B-17 and 2 SB2U-2s missed 2 DD SW of PH.
KB found and sank DM Pruitt NW of Niihu Island. The Vals left nothing for the Kates to torpedo (7 hits).
6 Vildebeestes went almost to Saigon to put 2 bombs into AK Kumagawa Maru. 14 troop casualties and 1 gun lost.
15 Ki-48s put 5 bombs into AK Makassar in the Bay of Bengal. 42 troop casualties, 4 guns lost, 2 vehicles lost.
6 Ki-48s put 5 bombs into already damaged AK 4th Burma Barge Group.
The CVE force missed a DD and an MSW near the Eastern tip of Celebes. These are tired air units.
1 Port Supply hit scored.

RE: RHSEBO Test 11E vs PDavis: Wow - we have a real war!
S-11 torpedoed and sank AK Empire Eagle at Brisbane.
Unescorted BB Yamato engaged and sank DD Alden with three 16.1 inch hits NW of Brunei. [This Yamato is a twelve gun version - using the
same guns as Nagato - but in three quad turrets - so she looks a lot like Yamato]. Next she engaged CL Kikldiom - also destroying an aircraft when she went down. These two ships were fleeing the battles at Brunei and are properly part of that action - the score of which is now somewhat better than it at first seemed to be.
Ground assault failed to achieve odds at Kota Bahru - 23 000 combined arms troops in good order engaged over 18 000 Allies - and this was enough to stop them. 121 Japanese casualties, 2 guns lost, 1 vehicle lost. 36 Allied casualties, 2 guns lost.
6200 troops in a brigade also failed to achieve odds vs 3500 Filipinos in a "division" at Davao. 420 Japanese casualties and 14 guns lost. 38 Filipino casualties and 3 guns lost.
Japanese bombardment at Alor Star caused 23 casualties.
Allied bombardment at Davao was ineffective.
Ground assault by only 3010 men captured Molokai from 1515 Allies. This position had not been reinforced - which it needs to hold. In spite of being mountains - there is not enough infantry in the base forces to hold the island. 31 Japanese casualties. 2522 Allied casualties, 6 guns lost, 8 vehicles lost. Both the base force from Lahaina and the base force stationed on Molokai surrendered.

The night turn began with Dutch sub KXII attacking Kinzyosan Maru - missing - and being missed by 4 ASW units escorting her. This in the Gulf of Thailand.
3 MSW units cleared mines at HK.
I-162 torpedoed Adelaide again - near the Western End of New Britain. This ship had already taken a sub torpedo at Rabaul and probably is going to flood out or burn out. 24 casualties and 1 gun lost imply it had troops on board - almost certainly Lark Force Battalion survivors.
DD Reid attacked - and missed - I-1 near San Francisco.
Dutch sub KXVII did better than KXII did - in the same area: she torpedoed AK Shinrei Maru. The was counterattacked by 5 As units - and hit once - by Shumushu - which often comes up first as a good AS unit.
Ro-51 missed an AP near Celebes.

RE: RHSEBO Test 11E vs PDavis: Wow - we have a real war!
The day turn began with a raid by 9 Blenheim night fighters escorted by 2 Buffalos on Singora. Met by 7 Zeros, 13 Ki-41s and 4 Petes,
2 bombers were destroyed in the air. 1 port supply hit.
64 Ki-21 bombers, 3 Nell recon planes and 12 Zeros raided Georgetown. The Zeros were unable to engage the 2 Buffalos on CAP - these and AA managed to damage 4 bombers. 1 Swordfish destroyed on the ground. 53 casualties, 1 gun lost. 22 Airbase hits, 3 airbase supply hits and 63 runway hits.
32 Zeros swept Singapore - met 7 Buffalos on CAP - and shot down 3.
46 Zeros swept Manila - met no CAP - and retired.
34 Ki-27s out of Bangkok caused 16 casualties to the RAF No 2 Forward Air Station remnant on the trail to Three Pagoda's Pass.
9 bombers of 3 types attacked an AP, new CL Agano and converted CLAA Tatsuta far SW of Oahu - missing all of them. 1 B-17 damaged.
3 Blenheims missed an AK at Ban Don Thailand on the Kra isthmus.
Later 3 more put 3 bombs into AP Kusui Maru at the same location.
3 B-18s raided Lahaina - met 24 fighters of 2 types on CAP - and retired with 1 bomber damaged.
3 B-10s out of Jolo missed AO Shiretoko at Cagayan.
3 more missed an AK at sea in the same area.
Later 6 more caused 9 casualties to the ground support elements at Cagayan. 3 Zeros on CAP achieved nothing.
10 Ki-48s missed and AK in Burma.
10 Ki-51s put 8 bombs into AO Trinity at Manila. 16 fighters of 2 types escorted them - but no enemy fighters found.
6 Kates from the retiring CVE force made a long range strike on ships fleeing South past Celebes toward Amboina.
They sank DD Pilsbury with two fish and hit MSW Bittern & Finch with another. 1 bomber damaged.
2 Blenheims missed CA Aoba at Singora. 24 fighters of 3 types on CAP achieved nothing. Aoba herself damaged a Blenheim with AA.
I-165 torpedoed and sank DMS Bunbury & Mildura at PM.
Ro-39 missed TK Angelina at Darwin.
Japanese ground bombardment at Kota Bahru caused 29 casualties and 3 guns lost.
Undefended Lemon Bay was captured by an SNLF.
Two Chinese Field Armies were driven from the last hex of the E-W RR line from Singapore - 38 000 Japanese achieved 9:1 odds vs 12 000 Chinese - 349 Japanese casualties and 8 guns lost - 799 Chinese casualties and 39 guns lost. This outcome probably partly driven by inadequate Chinese supplies in the area - and the fact these field armies had previously been defeated - and persumably demoralized and disrupted - and considerable air strikes.
An IJA Division of 26,000 men - after many days march into the wilderness West of Chinting in North China - engaged a Chinese guerilla regiment of 776 men - achieved 18:1 odds on the first attack - and drove it farther West - where it does not threaten so many RR LOC hexes.
[No less than 5 of 6 hexes around this hex have rail lines in them] 103 Allied casualties and 4 guns lost. This battle may also have been influenced by a lack of nearby supply for the Chinese - the unit was wholly dependent on its internal supply - which means it tends to max out about 33 per cent below full size.
The 48th (Division) Brigade - 10,000 strong - captured undefended Ilagan (Luzon). A patrol (i.e the AI) also captured undefended Vigan/Benguid - directly to its West on the island - earlier in the day.
Japanese troops at Alor Star - recovering from a failed assault - caused 14 casualties by bombardment attack.
Allied bombardment at Davao caused 10 Japanese casualties and 1 gun lost - also 2 Allied casualties and 1 gun lost. This engagement revealed the "division" of Filipinos had 3405 men - while the Japanese brigade in the city has 5694 men.

RE: RHSEBO Test 11E vs PDavis: Opening phase analysis
His best mini campaign is in Malaya. The IJN offensive naturally starts out slow given my strategy - land everything at Singora and march overland (in good order). But he won both tricks (opening battles) at KL and Alor Star - very unusual. And that was his fault - he did what players rarely do: defend forward. Vs my strategy it works very well. Fears of being flanked are not well founded: there is no way to get to the West Coast - and the East Coast is not on a main LOC. So the IJA is going to come down the rail lines - and you can do what he is doing here - slow them up. I expect to capture both towns tomorrow - on the second assault - but that is the worst performance of all time for an invasion of Malaya by me - even if we capture them.
His second best mini campaign must be the Central Pacific. Savage fighting - and major transfer in of long range bombers - caused me to delay landing schedules or even be forced from landing areas. I never did get a foothold on the big island. But the key islands of Lahaina and Molokai have fallen - this is the very first time I ever captured Molokai - and I expect to repeat the opening strike on PH tomorrow: too many ships are in port where they can be devastated by 800 kg bombs - too many bombers (and only 12 fighters) are on the airfields - where they can be devastated by dive bombers. The problem is - his AAA is too strong - and we will lose planes - but it is worth it. He is expending supplis feeding both divisions on Oahu - and in many mostly fruitless bomber strikes - so it will fall sooner than plan - I think. Still - I have many damaged battleships - and I don't leave em forward if damaged - and even a damaged CVL - making her run to repair tomorrow - now we got fires out. In the end he lost too much of The United States Fleet - but it did exact a price - and only slight variations in operational management of planes and ships - and putting infantry in mountanous Molokai - might have been decisive. And Lexington got away clean - while Sara never did appear anywhere - so he has a core carrier force somewhere in the Eastern Pacific (probably).
China - the heart of the war IMHO (not the usual WITP player focus - but the historical reason for war in the first place) - has at least been contested. He is on my LOC right beside Nanking with a Field Army - and he has a guerilla regiment on a vital rail LOC hex. In spite of this - I have taken the entire 4 hex E-W rail line west from Shanghai - earlier than ever before - and am in trouble nowhere. We will wipe out the guerilla regiment and the Field Army on our LOCs in a few days - and be in a position to plan a true offensive after that. HK has fallen - and the campaign in the South is proceeding nicely.
His worst showing must be in Luzon. Here he has imitated Mac - evacuating mountainous and resource rich Baguio City altogether - retiring on Bataan - failing to defend Manila from the East (my main thrust) - and evacuating most of the North - even Linguyan has no troops. We have just barely got started in the North - but went from one hex to three today - and will go to five or six in a day or two - due to light or nil opposition. A premature advance by major units into Manila is now underway - and we may try to capture it a month earlier than plan. It isn't evacuated - but there are only a few units present. It is already not producing. Farther South - Davao is invested and will fall in a few days - and an SNLF left port to invade Jolo in a few days.
The war in what the Japanese call the Southeast - the Rabaul area - is proceeding pretty well - and it is time to start thinking about the invasion of PM. I will come by sea - using a dribbling technique - constantly increasing pressure - but never risking a lot of losses in one sea battle. This is a true "operation shoestring" (the USMC nickname for it six months later) - with minimal forces - but it matters to get it early. We will go for Thursday Island - and for Tulagi - and then we will see what is possible? My goal is New Caledonia, Fiji and Samoa - to cut the Allied SLOC- and to get the resources of New Caledonia - if possible.
The early airborne offensive into Burma is about to take off big time. No one has come up with a defense against this - but he is doing as well as can be done by holding onto Moulmein and Rangoon. Schwebo fell today - in an effort to panic him - and mess up his supplies and line of retreat.
