AAR: zeke99 (A) vs zamli (J)

Post by zamli »

a new battle begins, stay tuned [;)]

We have decided to play Rising Sun PBEM scenario with historical turn plus some simplified home rules;

The opening move was 7 BB's sunk at PH plus Force Z damaged - both Prince of Wales and Repulse got *** hits. It seems the IJN should have a little easier time with not much BB left for the USN. We shall try to use this time given to us by our brave pilots ....

So much for the BB's in the Arctic strategy! Who's the lone survivor at Pearl?
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Who's the lone survivor at Pearl?

There is none, only US BB's in TF or Diego survived [:(]

In the following turn I got a little payback sinking 2 DD's by LBA from Singapore. [:)]
A landing of the 71st Phil div at Daveo failed to take the base even no jap troops were there [:@]
However I will try to keep Zamli busy [8D]

but the early battle of Midway was far from historical one....
of these CV presented below none survived.... they were just surprised by KB parking off of Midway on a way back to Tokyo........

Ouch that hurts [:(]

Again too eager to response. I thought the Jap TF's where already on their way home [:@]

Now we will fight a "what if Japan had won Midway" scenario.

I think Yamamoto would utilize this victory much better than I will, but nevertheless it is quite an interesting situation. 7 BB lest means only 3-5 will be used during next few months. 3 CV less means 5-6 US CV till the end of 1942.
We shall see what next days will bring us.... if I only had more divisions [:D]

the story so far:

Doing VERY well for the beginning of January 1942! And not a single Japanese warship sunk yet.

I confirm this........
huge loses of planes at Palembang :(

however this morning (when I was watching what was the repply before going to work where I am now) I noticed that both your heavy task forces will have to visit shipyards for a while [;)]
my KB's finally decided to arrive at the scene and lend some air support [8D]

however my repply will be only on Monday as I am off straight after work...
I can hardly wait to look at the details and analyse the scale of damages inflicted;

I shall try to post some screenshoots as well - that was really an interesting turn though with not much sinking - just one or two allied cruisers...

Yes, there were eight BB's at Pearl. Interesting that the Oklahoma, one of only two permanent losses historically, should be the survivor. And she's about the worst of the lot.[:(]

re Oklahoma, in the game there are not many difference between the old BB's.
Anyway I have not much to work with so I take what's there [;)]

Now I have to try to hinder zamli's progress as much as possible until late 1943.

I can't entirely agree. The West Virginia class (8 X 16") will perform much better against the Nagato than will the Nevada class (10 X 14").
