Unit Formations,etc

Post by andym »

Ok,i maybe a bit slow on the uptake here but what the hell.when i change the formation of a unit from Line to column of vice versa soem units depicted on the map dont change.Do these icons only change if the numerical size of the unit is above a certain level?(i.e 100+).Also some Cavalry units also seem to do the same.So i end up wasting MP's changing formation when not needed as i cant tell what formation they are in,or am i missing something here?

Also, just how long does ot take for a Unit to build breastworks?Does the unit size and type and the terrain dictate the time?
I have looked in the manual but i cant see it info.

In the TS series, I am not sure if size effects breastwork construction. I know it does in the HPS games. It is set at 18% base in the TS series.

I'm not sure what you mean in your first point. Which game are you referring to? ACW or Nappy?

Breastworks can drive one to drink.  It is a random roll and there is no consistency to it.

It's not too bad, really...I prefer the HPS system where a 1000 man unit has a better chance than a 25 man unit at creating them.

Never apply LOGIC to a game!  It just leads to ulcers...

Though I do find the TS and HPS games quite logical, once you realise that it is showing a very broad view of the battle.
