My White Sox Finnally Win !!

Post by DonBraswell »

After a hopefull 1952 season (we flirted with 1st division in May and late August) we ended up in 6th place. This season (1953) we fought off New York and Philadelphia to clinch the AL flag. We then faced Brooklyn. We won the 1st three games before the Dodgers kicked our butts in the next three games. Game seven went scoreless into the 9th inning when Pafko hit a 383' homer to right center field to win the World Series for us. There was a big party in Chicago.

Drafts and trades was the only way I could put this team together. I had to give away alot of good pitchers and rookie potential to get what I have. Most teams from 1947 through 1949 didn't want any one on my team except the few good pitchers I started with. Any way here is what my White Sox look like now.

Congratulations, Don. You picked a great 4th starter with Preacher Roe. To successfully combine youth with experience, in just the right mix, is indeed a key to success. It's also an exercise in alchemy, isn't it? Mix talent with a bit of magic and wonders can happen. You did a good job, my friend.
