Goofy forum stuff

Post by Prince of Eckmühl »

Okay, something has gone awry, here, with the Matrix forum interface.

Three times recently, I've been log'd out of the system and lost my work when I clicked on the submit button.

I'm still on the site, but the client software indicates that I'm a "guest", rather than a member.

In all three instances, when I returned to the forum I was automatically log'd back in under my username.

Very strange,

For what it's worth, I haven't experienced any of those problems myself.

I've had similar problems. I keep getting put back to guest, sometimes immediately after the "login successful" message. I'm now using the new version of Firefox so I'll see if that helps.

Alex, the "log out log back in automagically" stuff is sometimes related to improper config/link between www.domain.com and domain.com URL resolutions and/or different cookies for each.
Just in case it might be something related to that, thought i'd mention it :)

Guys, make sure your browser is set to accept cookies permanently from the site, and not just per session. Get rid of all matrix.com and www.matrix.com cookies and log back in.
It's what worked for me at other sites that exhibited the same behaviour.

While using Firefox it appears the problem is solved. I had multiple windows open during this time also. Cookies are enabled.

I seem to experience these "time outs" on a sporadic basis.

It can be very frustrating to have your entire composition "lost" after hitting the "submit" button.

It got so bad for about a week a few months ago that I began typing all my posts in a word processor program and then pasting the content into the reply box so I wouldn't lose the time and effort put into the post if the dreaded "time out" struck.
