Aging

This classic strategy game designed by Philippe Thibaut allows you to take charge of several of nearly 80 playable nations during the tumultuous and war torn period between 350 and 1066. Success hinges on military might but economic and administrative prudence too. To master Europe and beyond every area of statecraft must be mastered first!

Aging

How do you control how fast your country ages? Does it have something to do with Courts and Palaces? If so what about barbarians?

I noticed you got some info at AGEOD on this subject. It is a tough area of the game to get under control.
One thing I did notice was when using the taxation slider, if you go to the high extreme, additional effects appear below-including aging.
Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies.

I'm still confused as to what you do to get this under control. Everything I do leaves me with maximum Extra Aging (three red dots on the taxation slider). The rules mentions that Courts lower 'Inflation'. Is Inflation and Aging the same thing? And what about Palaces? I love the game, but I've got to figure this part out - I've actually seen the Eastern Roman Empire swell to lvl 4 in 27 years.

Another question - how do you send embassies to the Catholic church? They don't have any provinces to click on.

Ha-that is a problem I have not encountered as I play as the Western Empire. The Church is actually helping the Empire by normalizing the faith in controlled territories. I just let it go about its business. I imagine that when the Papal states appear, it will be possible for other nations to use embassies with the Church. I'm not sure if the Papal States kick in immediately after the fall of Rome in 475 AD (event??[:(]), as I have not it that far yet. I tend to restart after about 10 to 20 years to attempt to avoid another newbie error.

Your problem with aging could be just a run of bad luck. As I understand it, there is a random draw (with modifiers) to determine an advancement if any. It looks possible to age even if everything is going good-with some bad luck.
