How long does the Russian revolution take?

Post by ulver »

A set number of turns? Is there a chance every turn that the provisional government falls based on morale? Is that a chance the Bolsheviks will ever be decisively beaten so there no more checks are made for Bolshevik takeover?

There's a set number of turns that things could go either way. If morale hits 0 while the provisional government is in charge then the Bolshevik revolution happens. If not, at the end of the uncertainty period the Kerensky government is considered to have put down the Bolsheviks in which case no further checks are made.

a) It is kind of great having the designer answer your question about an hour after making them
b) Is the number of turns a secret?
c) Will there be a notification to the effect that the Bolsheviks has been put down if the provisional Government makes it? (if not consider adding a text string about the Provisional Government stabilizing the domestic situation – would add charm I think)
d) Will current moral affect the check?
e) What happens to British-French unit in Russia when she surrenders?

In my current PBM (AAR in AAR section) Russia have entered revolution in November 1915 but her morale remain strong. Would liberating Russian cities with British-French forces help Russian morale or do the Russians need to do so themselves?

Doesn't matter which units liberate them.

Can I improve Russian morale by capturing Ottoman cities with Russian forces?

Yes, but only half as much as recapturing your own.

I take it that it is an uphill battle for democracy to survive in Russia? I have never seen the message to the effect that the provisional government has crushed the Bolsheviks

I noticed that the Russian supply status improved considerably when she entered Revolution? Is there a connection? I suppose it could represent the initial high hopes for constitutional government.

50/50, it depends on how well the army does.

The Russians get a morale boost (high hopes) when Kerensky comes to power.

Can I ask if morale needs to hit zero for the Bolsheviks to win, how does it differ from normal surrender?

To trigger the Revolution morale does not need to hit 0. That is a separate formula although there's no chance of a Revolution if Russia is doing well.

If the Russian morale hits zero during the period of uncertainty the Bolsheviks win. In game terms there's no difference with a regular surrender.

can the Bolsheviks win even if morale never hits zero? ie, is there some sort of random roll involved besides simply reducing Russian morale to zero?
