Im been a close combat junkie since 96, having a break with CoD4 for a short interlude, CoI was good(i tested it), try CCMT maybe for modern feel, but its 1 day battles ONLY!

try ur older CCV invasion normandy, a bit old now($10 aud bargin bins by SSI), but go to sites like CloseCombatOnline, it has FREE mods and maps made by gamers, changes everything, russian front, pacific theatre, even now kokoda trail, israel 1967, dozens of war periods. soon CCIV is getting a rebuild, not sure of release. 64 interconnecting maps, most new, some new units and all XP/vista issues sorted.called WaR.released by matrix at a guess december 17th????? all i dont know, just guessing.

I played cmbo and now play cmak. Never bought cmbb. Just wondering why everyone thinks it's so much better than cmak. Is it just the theater or is there something about the gameplay that makes it better?

In CMBB there is a greater timeframe (41-45), and a big variation in equipment. Plus it's the theater where the decisive battles of the European Theater were fought.

And it has T-34/85's! :D

edit: now that I think about it, I'm not sure what the CMAK timeframe was.
40-45, if you include all the theatres. And as for CMBB, what about the JS-2? :)

I once made a cool meeting-engagement scenario with a several Sturmmörsers (Sturmmörseren?) in convoy and moving towards a village, protected by some other armour, armoured cars and troops in trucks against a mixed Soviet force with a couple of JS-2s. Look out if one of those huge rockets lands anywhere near you!

As for CMBB vs CMAK...they are very similar but CMAK is technically slightly better. A lot of people just like the Eastern Front aspect of CMBB.

And it misses T-35 becouse of game engine limitations. [:-]

To me, game killer is crappy camera controls. Many RTS games (and Ground Control in particular) have better camera controls than CM serie [:@]
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

It's not the best camera, that is for sure, but it didn't detract from the game very much.

give up now before it is to late. There is no such thing as the perfect game. I used to believe this and have a whole closet full of games that I thought were it...they were not.

Looking for the "perfect" tactical WW2 wargame

Hmm, if the operative word in the post was tactical then the CC series is in the lead and then some, far from perfect, but when its being used by several branches of the military to train with, you have to ask if its something out of the ordinary! In terms of tactical and reactive AI, theres nothing even close ;)

Of course thats just MHO lol!
