Map Sizes In Long Campaigns

Post by brucha »

What determines the map size when generating a Long Campaign? It seems that, sometimes, I will be handed a tiny map, less than a fourth on the entire area available, and other times given most of the map area to fight in. Is there an Options selection to limit or increase map sizes or is it determined by Battle Points?

I've found that core forces under 3000 points will usually start with a small or mid-sized map. If it's under 2000 points, that virtually guarantees small maps. There is no option to manually select map size in the long campaign.

Mission type also has an influence on the map size.  You will generally be assaulting/advancing on a small or medium map.  You will generally be delaying/defending on a medium or large map.  There are exceptions, but this has been my experience overall when playing a long campaign.
