hmmmm...interesting,,,could you Jason possible have a links page to where all these downloads are? or is that maybe out of scope to the latest and greates...besides on latest patch being supported....i still did not get support even some from previous issues on vista. but that is neother here nor there...It would go along way for customers to have available these downloads from one site instead having to bounce every where for them. Also if you purchased a JTCS ussed from another party and they regisitered it can the registration transfer or are you stuck in the 1.00 world?

This issue has come up before on other games. I believe that in order to register a game with Matrix you need to buy it from Matrix. If you buy it used from a 3rd party who already registered it the system will prevent you from using the serial number twice.

This is part of the downside of buying used software. But it is fair.

Thank you Jason, for making the official position crystal clear. I choose to accept it. Others may choose to continue moaning and groaning.
I have all updates stored on a backup disk. If things ever get really desperate I would be happy to share that disk with anyone. The updates are way too large to attach to an e-mail.[:-][8D]

This can be solved quite simply if the seller can provide his account too (trouble is when he has other games registered). But even if he cannot give the account together with the game, this only limits the members area, which many people do not use anyway (I for one want a patch to correct problems not cause them, hence I shun the betas). The patch itself only checks the serial, which is valid and the patch does not know who types it in. So there really should be no problem for second hand game owners. On the other hand maybe matrix should allow transfering the game to a different account, I have almost no knowledge of US law, but in many countries customer rights are assigned to the legal owner of the product, it does not matter if it is the first owner or not. That said many companies try to go around it (e.g. Microsoft) so having a look at the EULA should be in order.

I ranto the problem with this issue on a few games i bought....red orchestra, korsun pocket, and now jtcs...even though these games are legally purchased leets say on ebay...the owner gives the regisration rights up...but apparently this is not the case. If consumer buy any [roduct aftermarket I feel that they should be able to upgrade those even if they can't register that number. I understand the reasoing behin a registered copy upgrade but for people that buy aftermarket products are buying something that may not work even though it is a bug ridden version of a game that tweaks have been fixed. I know this is not just a matrix issue but I think it is more of an industry wide stance. Opinions anyone?

What do you mean you can't update the games? I mean, they ask for a serial upon install, I assume when it's given the install progresses, and then it is asked again upon patching, and should be accepted if it was accepted upon install. Is that not the case?

when you purchase a thirdty yes you get the serial number...if the serial has been registered you cannot get that update on the members page...also you cannot register the game. so in essence you are stuck with a particular rev unless there is a web page that has the updates on it that you can download outside of matrix

Just a thought, for those who download patches and have an aftermarket copy of the game.
The above link has all the upgrade patches, including version 1.04Beta. Why would you be forced to download from Matrix if you can get them there?
And, even if they did not have the latest patch, wouldn't you be far above version 1.01?

I do understand the support issue, but, "you" did buy a used item?

Just a thought. [8|]

No you're not stuck, the patches in the members area are only beta patches. I for one never used members area, as I don't feel like playing with untested game versions, once the patches are in their full, approved by Matrix QA the patch is available to be downloaded from matrix without members registration. Still it will ask for your serial, but if you have it, I don't really see the problem. Well, unless you really mind waiting the few weeks it takes for the patch to mature.
