New LCGs

Post by TAIL GUNNER »

It's my understanding that Wild Bill and crew will be crafting new scenarios and/or campaigns for the new Matrix CS series.

I'd like to add my vote for some new monster LCGs:

1. DAK in North Africa
2. 6th Panzer Army at Battle of the Bulge
3. 6th Army at Stalingrad
4. Rommel's (7th?) Panzer Div in '40 France.
5. Entire Market-Garden Ops.

Just off the top of my head.......any others?

I hope that the existing ones will be kept by upgrading them I've never played most of them.

Id like to see Japanese LCG of the conquest of Malaya.

Id like to see a Soviet LCG for Operation Mars done for the Belyi area where the Soviets had the best chance of success.

Id like to see Operaion Uranus for the Soviets.

Id like to see some of the Italian, Balkan and Greek campaigns put in.

Greeks vs Italians 1940-41, Germans vs Yugoslavs, Greeks and British 1941, especially the airborne attack on Crete.

The fighting in Italy in 1943-45 would be interesting from either side.

With the addon of new units to existing country slots and new country slots:

Japanese 5th Division in China and Indochina 1937-41. Would need to add KMT Chinese, PLA Chinese to country oobs and French Indochia forces to French oob.

Japan conquest of Dutch East Indies (Dutch KNIL units would need to be added to Netherland oob).

A campaign from the Partisan War in the Balkans, following a unit of Tito's Partisans vs the Germans, Italians, NDH, Bulgarians. Could carry on up thru the
joint operation with the Soviets to liberate Belgrade and the liberation of the country. Would need addons to Yugoslavia (partisan forces), Italians and Germans (unique forces used in the Balkans), new Croatia and Bugaria country oobs.

British vs Italian East Africa (Ethiopia to country oobs).

Campaign of the Brazilian Division in Italy 1944-45. Add Brazil to country oobs.

Id like to see Japanese LCG of the conquest of Burma. Might need the KMT Chinese added as a country oob.

Forgot an LCG for the Japanese Nomonhan/Khalkhin Gol Campaign. It would require the 1939 Far Eastern Army units be added to Russian oob and 1939 Japanese forces added to thier oob and the new country oobs of Mongolia and Manchukuo would be needed.

Perhaps one LCG for each side.

I'd like to see a 4th Armored LCG, from Operation Cobra through the end of the war.

I'd also like to see a US Marine LCG, that more or less follows the 2nd Marines throughout the entire war, covering each landing they participated in.

It would be difficult, but I'd like to see a Normandy LCG from the German perspective. Try and hold Omaha beach, and then fight in and around Normandy until at least the start of Cobra.

That'd be cool. The Final Battle: Siege of Singapore!
Id like to see Operaion Uranus for the Soviets.

Steamrolling Italians and Romanians....I like it![:D]
Id like to see some of the Italian, Balkan and Greek campaigns put in.

Greeks vs Italians 1940-41, Germans vs Yugoslavs, Greeks and British 1941, especially the airborne attack on Crete.

There's an excellent WF German LCG called "Hunters from the Sky", which follows a battalion of German Fallshcirmjaegers from invasion of Holland to the last days of war......Crete is included of course. One of the best (and toughest) LCG scenarios I've ever played.

Nice!
Patton's 3rd Armored could be fun too....

Who had more action.....1st or 2nd Marines?
What the hell, they should just do a mega-LCG on the entire Marine Corp in the Pacific.[X(]
It would be difficult, but I'd like to see a Normandy LCG from the German perspective. Try and hold Omaha beach, and then fight in and around Normandy until at least the start of Cobra.

A looooooong time ago some dude whose name escapes me was creating a German 12th SS (Hitlerjugend?) LCG in Normandy.
I played the first few scenarios he had done, and they were freakin' brilliant!
Just found it here:
http://redarrowproductions.com/DGWScen.htm

Not sure if he ever finished it though!
(Yeah, I know it's not Omaha....[:D])

Hi:

I am new here but I thought Juggalo's last point about the 12SS Panzer Division Linked Campaign Game was quite valid, it was indeed an excellent LCG. The LCG he mentioned was created by Jim Govostes and the version Juggalo points to on Craig Foster's page actually is out of date and does not even scratch the surface; the last version had at least 23 separate scenarios but unfortunately Jim never did finish it. In my last correspondence with Jim over 3 years ago, he seem to indicate he had other things which were chewing up his time and I suspected from his comments that he was no longer interested in finishing his LCG.

I tried to find my link to Jim's own web page for his 12SS LCG in the hopes of pointing you to his last (though unfinished) version but I find the link is no longer valid; it use to be http://www.jandmgovostes.com/

Though I have Jim's last version (I did some playtesting for him), I am reluctant to relay it to anyone else since Jim has eliminated the only place where it was available and perhaps implying he did not want to share it anymore.

Pity, it truly was outstanding in its scope.

Thanks for posting btam![8D]

You should relay Jim's contact info to Matrix....this LCG deserves to be finished AND included with the new version of West Front!

Hi Juggalo:

I was able to get in touch with Jim and he has kindly consented to me relaying the last version he did to other parties.

Unfortunately, I the file size upload for this forum is limited to 200kb and Jim's file is 1mb in size zipped.

I know it may not be polite of me to ask, but do you want to leave an email address on this forum and I can send it that way?

I will forward Jim's contact info to David Heath at Matrix.

This LCG, even unfinished, is well worth it.

Cool btam....I'm sure Wild Bill or whoever is doing LCGs for the new Matrix versions of the CS games will be able to easily flesh out the rest of the campaign...

Thanks again, and thanks to Jim!Image

Actually, Jim recently advised he still hopes to finish it off. Some of the final maps are done but he just needs to find time to finish and play test it. He is fully aware that the CS will be updated by Matrix and I leave to Matrix and Jim to see if they can come to an arrangement.

It would be a shame if this LCG were not included in the update. It is one of the few which is a division sized LCG; certainly it is the most in-depth.

Input for LCG.

There should be an LCG for U.S. Marines on Iwo Jima in RS.

Side note: How could the list of scenarios be complete without Marines in the Solomons, New Britain, or Iwo Jima.
Don't view the situation as being outnumbered. View the situation as having a wide selection of targets to choose from.

Just bored and reminiscing over here....but this caught my eye.

Whatever happened to this 12thSS LCG?

I would like to see anything that uses the new rules and units: trains, bridge building, river crossings, destroyers supporting landings plus more battles and campaigns with all of the new added nationalities.
Oh yeah--more than happy to playtest anything. [;)]

just  a word of advice for the scenario designers trucks 3SP trucks that carry full 6 SP infantry units..the AI wont unload them and will jsut run around with them on the board. So far this is true for Russian Guards Infantry of all types.

Great news, only recently I was thinking that we have too few LCGs. It'd be very nice if there were more LCGs for Eastern front, currently there are very few, esp some regarding early Barbarossa would be great.

A little question on the side - will the custom LCGs designed for the old Talonsoft version work ok with the Matrix version? Or should I expect trouble?

How about an enormous scn or LCG from the Normandy landings to the liberation of Paris. My two cents worth.

That is indeed an impressive scenario.[X(]

I haven't really looked at the Allied OOB, but the German one is horrible...

Well actually there were five beaches barker. Two British, two American, and one Canadian. Of the five assault divisions for the amphibious phase the Canadians came the nearest to reaching their D-Day objectives.
