Preferences Question

In the manual concerning Computer Advantageit states:

"Computer Advantage – If "Computer Advantage" is on, the computer opponent will
receive some free units, to make the game more challenging. In small battles, this can
unbalance the game."

However, from my experience, this options seems to give the computer ALOT of troops. I usually play battles with around 1,500 points (basically a British infantry battalion) or less. As it states, small battles will be unbalanced with this option, but does anyone know roughly how many units or points this Preference give the computer? Or what constitutes a small battle in terms of battle points?

I believe default points (when both sides are set at XXX) is around 4000 or so, so a 1500 point battle would rank as a smaller battle, IMO. Try turning the Advantage OFF, and giving the computer, say, around 2000 to your 1500. Adjust in the next battle if it is too little or too much.

Ahh, thanks Goblin, I thought, incorrectly, that you could not allot different point amounts for a battle. I.E., if you choose 1,000 points for yourself and 2,000 for the computer, the AI would not exceed your amount.

I will try giving the AI a slightly higher amount next time.

It will purchase based on the points you have IF you leave its Battle Points at XXX. Otherwise, it will use the number you enter.

Not sure just yet. I re-started a Long Campaign giving the AI 300 extra points (whereas I have a full British infatry battalion - just infantry though, no mg's just some snipers and a FO), and pulled an Defend battle against the Italians for the first battle. So far I have seen over a dozen SMV's and CL-35's and maybe 2 oversized line infantry companies with engineers. I am starting the 14th turn, so its too early to say if this is making much of a difference. Suffice to say, I actually am having it really easy - I destroyed almost all the vehicles by turn 6 or so, and the line infantry are having no success in their attacks. However, I suspect that the Ai has not yet deployed its entire force, as it seems that I have not seen enough troops to use up all the points.

If you set the AI points at 300, it only has 300 to spend. Set it at 300 over what you spent (if you spent 1500, give it 1800). Remember to adjust occasionally as your troops improve. If you spend 750 on upgrades, give them more points so it doesn't get too easy for you. You will get a feel when fighting.

Oh no, I set the Ai points to 1800 - so I meant that the AI had an extra 300 points over mine.
