PBEM ok so how do you do it?

WW2: Road to Victory is the first grand strategy release from IQ Software/Wastelands Interactive, which covers World War II in Europe and the Mediterranean. Hex-based and Turn-based, it allows you to choose any combination of Axis, Allied, Neutral, Major or Minor countries to play and gives you full control over production, diplomacy, land, air and naval strategy. Start your campaign in 1939, 1940 or 1941 and see if you can better the results of your historical counterparts. A series of historical events and choices add flavor and strategic options for great replayability.

Anyone?

I have not actually started a game, but as a complete novice PBEMer, I was interested in how to do the setup. I was considering a practice match against myself just to get the feel for it for future use.

As far as I can tell, all you have to do is select the scenario and click on the "PBEM" check box in the new game startup screen. NOTE, the PBEM tab is empty, so I assume this is for listing currently active PBEM games, perhaps this is a source of confusion?

Clicking on the PBEM button brings you to the player assignment screen where you would choose AI or human for the contries in a hotseat game. In the PBEM setup screen, instead of having AI or human as choices, you have AI, Player 1, Player 2, etc. (I think up to Player 6). Hope this helps.

Not sure you can play against yourself, would think not!

I have played 2 now and see that it needs to be saved, zip filed and emailed to your opponent.

Would you like to play a game? Axis or Allies?

Well, given that due to unusual circumstances, I currently have 2 personal email accounts, I could do it against myself. As I implied, I have never done PBEM, and realistically, I could only do 1 turn a day ("Work is the curse of the drinking classes", as Oscar Wilde said[:)]). If you are still game, I will try either side. Just let me know one way or anthother, so that I can send you a message.

Hello Mike,

I am up for 1 turn a day, or whatever our schedule allows.

I have played some PBEM as axis, but would like to try allies.

Send to my yahoo address. I can not figure out how to send zip files from my msn address.

The only thing I'm a bit unsure about is having AI countries in the PBEM game. Do you still need the PBEM tab ticked with the name field cleared or does it not matter?

Using the Alliance filters does help as well I found.
Axis countries go to Player 1.
Allied to Player 2.

Comintern? Well USSR could either be AI or Player 2? Still pondering this.
Neutrals? Minor neutrals are easy and should be left AI I guess. I guess all the major ones should be pre set as one or other of the players except some major neutrals may be best left AI?

Will see how I get on. Will have another go tonight, maybe alcohol will take the edge off of the frustration to allow me to finish setting things up...................

Believe you just need to select major powers and axis - italy, germany as player 1, allies - France, USSR, UK, and USA as player 2

Good luck!
