Tanks and Trenches

Post by Lascar »

The manual states: So, a Level 3 Tank unit will attack a Level 4 trench as if it was a Level 1 trench

Is the affect of tanks accumulative when attacking units in trenches?
For example, if a three level 1 tank units attacked a level three trench the trench level would be reduced to zero. Or if two level 1 tank units attacked the same hex the trench level would be reduced to one.

Its cumulative. 3 level 1 tanks will reduce the effective trench value of the hex they're attacking 3x more than a single tank unit.

Wow – I had no idea. Mass enough tanks and you can pretty much take any hex. Is the combine allies penalty in effect if a British tank support a French attack or does it work like artillery?

A British tank can support a French attack, although you still incur the "different nations" penalty.

Inspired by Ulver's ultra high tec army I have been exploring the 1917 scenario a little to get some experience of tank combat. Am I correct in saying that at the lower levels there is a reasonable chance that mechanical breakdown will prevent tanks reaching the destination hex?

There's a slight penalty for units of different nations attacking the same hex.

They should reach the hex but they can "breakdown" and be rendered ineffective before the attack is resolved.
