Maybe a problem with 3.0

Post by Denniss »

I'm playing an additional scenario"Japan wins at Midway" and after playing about half a year i noticed my plane groups in Calcutte , Dacca and Dutch Harbour getting no replacement aircraft .
No enemy thread , enough supply and planes available .
Had to move to a different base to get new planes .

Another question :
How is it possible to get oil from Land bases as japanese player ?
Is it transferred to a near port to be loaded onto tankers there ?

I think that I heard about the certain bases not having replacement aircraft before, possibly an old bug. This is probably due to the fact that these bases were old Kwantung and Chinese Expeditionary Army bases.

The oil at land locked bases is merely for industry sake (to Middle East) and points based (1 point of oil = 10 VP's) Some land loced bases did have oil, but they do not mean anything except for VP value in PacWar.

I've seen it all over. I had a P-38 squadron stand up in San Fran and it never grew beyond 4 - even though the pool had over 300 planes in it.

I finally changed it to another aircraft and then back after it grew to full strength.

well i have played the 1941 cmpgn for both sides and have had little problems. the few bugs that i have had are minor. the p61 shows up in the production menu for japan late 1944. still some bases do not get replacements. { not isolated } but all in all a good version. ai seems to fight better and bases seem harder to take by amphib attack. those late allied carriers are killers. so i wait to try 3.1 thanks for your great efforts.

i would agree with crusher, there are a few minor pecularities but nothing crushing. some of them are most likely a fact of the many changes in this game. Kolombarga comes to mind, has the dreaded isolated bug, but not a problem, i notice that the AI doesn't really use it, probably has to do with its base number.

The AI is MUCH better now. is there a 3.1 in the works? if so, what items are you looking at? it would seem that you have wrung out most of what you are going to get from a 15 year old program. I want to thank you at Matrix for the haard and excellent work. really like the new map and OOBs.

the rangoon bug has been there since the begining. many people have tried to fix it but with no luck. if i remember correctly the resources were removed to make it less important. dealing with india now is a much harder problem for the inj. by the way it shows a march route into china but it does not work.

Using the editor, one can get rid of a base's "isolated" status. Just go to the "base" sheet and edit the terrain cell.

The AI does seem tougher, but I'm not sure yet whether it's because the AI is actually smarter or if the AI has been given a bunch of advantages.

The overwhelming air superiority that the Allies usually have is mitigated by the decreased number of airgroups available; same for supply ships, etc. The Japanese seem to have more ships, and more capable ships, etc. I know that their subs seem to be tweaked upwards - I've lost well over 100 MCS to the 16 Japanese sub groups around Pearl in late '42.

I'm playing on Max Japanese Help, so I can't get a good feel yet on this issue.
