naval stack move--intentional change or bug?

Post by ndrose »

I've been trying out the 1.04 beta, which looks like a big improvement--definitely tougher.

One thing I noticed that was a little odd: when you select a fleet and click stack move, if the selected fleet one of the MP's own, minor fleets stacked with it don't come along. (But if you select a minor fleet and click stack move, it brings everything as before: that minor, other minors, and the MP fleets).

Intentional or bug?

Not sure, the same thing with transports.  If you select a transport, and hit stack move, everything comes.  if you select a regular unit, and hit stack move, the transport stays behind.

I think with transports it's intentional--the idea being that when you want to move a stack you might not mean transports too, which limit your range. So if you want transports-and-escort you select the transports first. If I remember correctly, it's been like that in previous versions. But I believe the minor fleet distinction is new to 1.04, and I don't immediately see the reason for it, so thought it might be a bug. (But maybe there's a reason I just don't see.)

Yes, the transport thingy is intentional since this helps prevent you from accidentally bringing the transport to a major engagement.

The lights not coming sounds odd??? Do you have a save of that?

It's not the light fleets, it's minor fleets. They come if you select a minor fleet to start with (and it will bring all minor fleets as well as the major fleet), but if you select part of the major fleet, the minors don't come with stack move. I think I can get you a save for this.
