Sounds do not play correctly...

Post by sfcspoonman »

Music, voices just about any sound, plays for a sec over and over... Cant really do anything with the game at all...

Tried, disabling anti virus, latest sound drivers, turning down all video options, putting volume of music all the way down...

I am running direct x 9c. Meet all specifications. Athlonxp2600, geforce 7300 w 512 mem, 1g of system mem, audigy2 zs, clean running system, runs all others games without issue... Like battlefield2 silent hunter 3 and 4, etc etc

Any ideas?

Hello sfcspoonman,

Try opening your dxdiag and leave it open in the background while you play Starshatter. For some reason this helps minimize the sound problems you are experiencing. Hope this helps.

Umbra, YOU THE MAN!  Totally helped.  Now I can try this game!  Thank you!

Curious how you came up with that?  I searched the forums and could find nothing...

Seriously, I been trying everything to get this game to work, I cannot tell you how pleased I am with your answer so quickly to my question.

Again, THANK YOU!

Your welcome. Actually, someone else mentioned that dxdiag fix on the forum a year or so ago (I think they discovered it by accident). I am surprised your search of the forum did not bring up some of the old posts concerning sound issues. Now the only thing you have to worry about is the game crashing during the selection of Assault missions, assuming you have the latest 5.02 version of the game. Sadly patches and developer support have been lacking for this title, which is a shame because its actually a pretty cool game.
