if you got to the AGEOD.com website and go to the forums there is excellent up to date infor, tips, stragy etc. I play the CSA and this is a difficult game I have restarted several times. Right now I am in the 1861 April Grand campaign, Have taken St Louis, Indian Territories and applying pressure on Chicago. A real tough nut to crack is Louisville. I gave up on DC. I found if you have the resources and can get a large fleet you can effectivly blockade the DC and Annapolis area, Gun boats up the Miss and and take Cairo within the first 5 turns it will be easier.
games:
1. AGEOD Blue and Gray
2. John Tiller's Battleground Series
3. Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
4. Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
5. V for Victory Games
6. Silent Hunter III
7. Silent Hunter IV
8. Rise and Fall of the Third Re

A lot depends on how the AI will react and basically all comes down from the settings you use. At normal settings, I don't think it's hard enough and i have beaten USA with CSA several times even at the hardest setting.

Interestingly enough though, no game comes out alike from the previous one. It takes but a failure in the activation roll to change everything so i still don't thinnk there's a fixed strategy that pays or doesn't pay. As long as you don't make mistakes and play smart with CSA you can win.

You are right. I failed to take Paducah then I had a swarm of Union running through KY and in WV. It tied my resrves up for 6 months. menahile it had a concentrated attack at Manassas while doimg a landing in Savannah. It di make for a tricky game.
