From the creators of Crown of Glory come an epic tale of North Vs. South. By combining area movement on the grand scale with optional hex based tactical battles when they occur, Forge of Freedom provides something for every strategy gamer. Control economic development, political development with governers and foreign nations, and use your military to win the bloodiest war in US history.
Thought I'd tease you all a bit by showing you something that will be included in the next FOF patch (currently in beta-testing). Since "Crown of Glory: Emperor's Edition" will have a zoom feature (shown here: tm.asp?m=1853198 ), and this features has been requested for FOF multiple times, we figured we'd add it. Here are some shots of the strategic map being zoomed out. (Tactical-level zoom isn’t ready yet.)
(Regarding beta-testing, over time our original corps of testers has suffered some march attrition. If you have an interest in testing future patches, or perhaps even a FOF expansion if/when we get to that, please let me know. I’d like to start keeping a list of potential testing candidates.)

And all the way out (my two-thirds out screenshot was 2KB over the blasted 200KB limit, so I can't show that):

How beautiful that map is when zoomed out - this is great news!
And you're even working on a zoom-function in detailed battles...? I feared that would have been too hard to do...
Great news indeed...!
Gang Gil, you far surpassed my expectations, great work

Matrix has raised the maximum size for attachments for this forum, so JPEG's that exceed 200KB are no longer a problem. Therefore, I can now post the missing screenshot from the strategic-level zoom sequence:

Wonderful, wonderful!
Not to sound greedy - but it would be quite fun to be able to zoom one more level in too...!
Getting a close-up look at those wonderful pixels and animations as the battle rages would really add a lot of atmosphere...
So if it's no big hazzle (which I'm suuure it's not...[;)]) - please consider adding that too...
I checked, and zooming in more is not something we'll be adding. Just use a magnifying glass!

It's been a while, so I thought I'd briefly give an update on the FOF patch. Despite our silence, we are indeed working on it, and feel that we're close. There's still a bug that needs to be fixed, but the main thing is to test a bunch of changes made to detailed combat. Our testing team is very much on the case, but since it's smaller than in its pre-release glory days we need to take a bit more time to make sure that the patch is indeed ready. On the plus side, this gives me time to edit a few more bios for it...
We're not going to promise a release date just yet, but I'd say that if the bug is easily fixed and no further programming is required to adjust the changes made to detailed combat it would be out later in the month.

Yep, great news, I played FoF lately and grumbled about the lack of a zoom feature, I didn't even think it was possible and, best, underways and nearly done !
Great support from WCS, kudos ![:)]
