Actually, repairing might not be a sound move.  Each point of HI needs 1000 supply points to repair.  Each point of HI gives one supply point and one fuel point per day of use.  If you count one fuel point = one supply point, it means you'll need 500 days of operation before you come even.

500 days = eighteen months = one and a half year.

One and a half year before you get some benefits of the repair.  Won't you have crushed Japan in that time ?  Will some dozens additional supply points matter then, more than dozen thousands of supply points now ?  And this is without even counting the need to ship ressources and/or oil as needed.

Unless you are needing the HI points for industry. I don't repair HI for the supply and fuel, I repair them to build up the HI pool for late in the game. It basically comes down to wether or not you are having a shortfall in the HI usage for aircraft, armaments and shipyards.

You may be comparing apples and oranges here. It depends on why you are repairing the HI. If you're doing it for the supply, then yes, it takes a long time to break even. But, if you're repairing it to produce HI, then it benefits you from day 1. You need to look at your oil and (more importantly) resource production. If your HI production (and manpower, for resources) is higher than your oil or resource production, then it really won't gain you anything because eventually your oil and/or resource reserves will be eliminated and your production will crash and thus your economy. Not a good thing.

Well, like I said just above, I thought it was about the Allies side.  No need of HI points there, only supply & fuel.

And it is quite sad.

Interesting that you feel the need for more supply as the Allies. I hear (never having played the Allies myself) that you guys are just slopping over in supply.

The allies have all the supplies they can ever use.  The problem is distribution.  Poor distribution creates local shortages.  (China is a special problem because the sea routes are blocked.)

One never has enough of anything.  The problem is bringing all of this from SF (is it Supply & Fuel or San Francisco ?).[:D]

But it's never bright to use more assets than you'll get in meaningful times.  It only leads to waste.  Waste leads to carelessness.  And carelessness leads to the Dark Side.

EDIT: and one should never interrupt one's answer. It leads to being ninja'ed.[:-]
