Plotting question

Post by Chris21wen »

I've been playing this game since the days of SSI but I've never quite understood plot timings. In the following example will the second attack be corrdinated?

The unit indicated plots 1s6
The German unit to the NW plots 603s

In this instance I'm treating the static plot the same as a wait.

Or should it be

The unit indicated plots 1s6
The German unit to the NW plots 63s

Where the static plot is not the same as a wait.

As I've said I've always been confused about this.

RE: Plotting question

Post by Rasputitsa »

I use the '0' plot to delay movement and sequence units into a combined attack. I chose which units I want in the lead, going through gaps, delaying the following units with one, or more '0' delay commands. In combined attacks I use the delay to ensure that attacking units hit in the same phase of the 5 moves available. I use the 'S' plot to organise which unit moves into the captured hex after victory. All attacking units have plots ending in 'S', except the one which is to occupy the enemy position, this does reduce the moving options to 4 phases, but keeps units in order. I don't say this is the only way to do it, but this is my preference.

In the second example you give the first unit (1S6) will try and move in phase 1 and 3. The second unit (63S) will try and move in the phase 1 and 2. The Bombard 'B' is useful as when the combat is resolved you will see what you opponent's force is, even though it may later change with fatigue level and/or re-enforcements. [:)]

Another thought which may be obvious, but although infantry units only have two plots available, they can take them at any point in the 5 movement phases.  The wait command does this with -  00120 or 00012 or 0102S or 0012S  [:)]

Thats what I've been assuming. Thanks
