Will Not Work

Post by balto »

I have about 8 Matrix Games. I never had any problems with them.

The download seemed to go okay.

It will not work.

When I hit play it says FATAL ERROR 818. The tutorial and Manual Buttons you hear a ship bell, but they do nothing.

So instead of diagnosing all this, can I just uninstall and then re-download?

If so, how do I re-download?

I found a help area on how to re-download. This is what I get.

Message 99998 - To protect ourselves against fraud, we need to set a cookie on your computer. In order to continue your purchase online, please reset your browser to allow cookies. You can make your purchase and then set cookies off again in your browser. If you already allow cookies, there may be a problem that can be corrected by deleting the cookie file. 20009SC01.

I am not a computer expert. Is there anyway someone can help me with this?

Thanks

Before you start redownloading, read this thread very carefully, and do exactly what it says:

I think we need a little more information.

What did you download? Version 1.5 (had to buy it.) You will also need to download 1.804 comprehensive and 1.806 patch.

Burn these files to a CD or if you have space on you Hard drive, put them in a directory that you will not delete.

Once you have downloaded all 3 files, install 1.5 (you will need your serial number). At this point, you might start the game to make sure it is working. Then install 1.804 (you will need your serial number). Then install 1.806 (you will need your serial number).

Let us know how it goes.

Terminus, I cannot re-download.  IN my second post, see that MESSAGE 9998 thing?  I set it to accept cookies, so I cannot even get it to re-download.

Charbroiled.  I downloaded whatever version is on the download (I think 1.5).  Then I downloaded 1.806 because with all other Matrix games, I never had to read special stuff.  So I guess you have pinpointed what I did wrong.

I wish I could undo it, but I cannot.  I cannot get it to redownload.

Thank for the help.  I guess I will have to wait for the CD now.

One more thing: it can be worth your while to go looking for information a little more before opening a new thread about a problem. I found the thread I linked you to on page 2 of the Tech Support subforum, conveniently named "fatal error 818". Took about 20 seconds.

Oh

I did not think about the SEARCH feature.  But then again I never needed to because all the other Matrix games you never have to deal with this.

My greatest fear of this game was the complexity.  Now I cannot even get it to run.  Is this a bad omen or what!  I give up, everyone have a great weekend.

You should not have to redownload...unless you deleted the file that you downloaded after you tried to install.

That would be the only reason, yeah. Guess you'll have to wait for the CD; deleting your downloaded file is a big no-no.

Charbroiled, I ran the download right from the sight.  I did not save it then download it.   Is that what you meant?  Sorry, feeling really stupid right now.

Charbroiled is the greatest!

Thank you for all of your time. I am sure you are not used to dealing with clods such as myself.

Give me two months or so and I will see some of you on the PBEM field of battle. I will lose, but still, I will see you there.

Thanks again for everything.

It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?
