copy and modify existing scenario

how do i copy an existing scenario (editor, map and org file) then modify the org chart? my goal is to place only the new units, not every unit

If you copy all three files to a new name your scen will not work under the new name.

In order to have a new scen based on an old one you have to use at least the same map and org file for both.
IMHO that is.

Just add new units to you  org file.
Then open the old scen and save it under a new name.
Then place your new units on the map and save again.
You will have now two scens based on the same map and org files but in one scen all units have been used in the other the new ones are still "off map" and will not be used.
