New To MF - Issues

Post by FPSFLover »

I am brand new to MF and I have had a problem playing the game.
I play the game and it starts off perfectly fine and then grinds down slower and slower till it completely stops most of the time in the 2nd quarter with around 12 minutes left.
I am very bad with computers but I really want to play this game so I was wondering if someone could help.
First off when I installed it said I didn't enough memory so I could be crashing just because of that. If that is the problem, what do I do next? It did run just fine at first.
ok here is the info i know how to find about my computer. any other info needed please bare with me locating.
Sytem:
Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
CISNET
Intel(R)
Celeron(R) CPU 3.06GHz
3.07 GHz, 448 MB of RAM

THANKS! I was so looking forward to this any help is appreciated.

In My Computer there is a Control Panel.

If you open it and click on the System icon, the Device Manager tab and Display Adapter, it should be listed.

If you right click on the Desktop, it should say what it is in the settings as well.

The key here is if the computer has an poor intergrated graphics chip stealing RAM or not.

Is this a laptop?

All right, it looks like you have integrated graphics.  That is bad news for most 3D software.

Without an upgrade, you will likely not be able to run Maximum Football.

The SIS 661FX is an AGP chipset.  You should be able to pick up an X1650 graphics card for about $50, a HD3650 for about $85, or a real mean HD3850 for about $120 after rebate.  That is, if the AGP slot is open and in place on the motherboard.

Your power supply will limit the graphics card selection. Stock system power supplies are notorious for not having enough juice on the 12V rail.

Ok. Now this is a job that involves taking the computer apart right? I'll need to bring it to a shop to get this put in? Is it that hard for a novice or should i really bring the computer in? Thanks so much for the help.

It is simple to do, as long as you know that static electricity is not a good thing.

I don't know if there are any compatability issues with SiS chipsets, but installing a graphics card is pretty straightforward.

There is a little more to it if you want to install a new power supply as well.

Ok. Sounds good. I will check out staples and see what I can find. I can't wait to get this going.
Before this I had worked a while trying to get fbpro 98 working and once i did it crashed after a week or two of play after days of editing and making a league of my own similar from playing in the 90s. Love my PC football. : )

Check out ewiz.com and Newegg.com

Make sure you have an AGP slot open on your motherboard.  Some manufacturers like Compaq, HP, or Dell sometimes solder in the AGP slot for some odd reason.

3.07 GHz, 448 MB of RAM

448 MB are on the limit and perhaps already out of the limit.

Try to play without shadows and perhaps a low resolution.

Newegg.com  is pretty good  ,  i had  to get  a  new card  in feb ,  so i could play  with all  the new stuff  like shades  and stuff. . I also  had agp  slot comp , saved 50.00  dollers  throught them .  Also  in creased  my ram  and ended up getting a 500 amp   power supply. Since then  been a pleasure playing the game . Good  thing   about  guys here . Theres always  someone  here  who  can help . Good luck  with  game .

Tullius is correct, you might want to try and upgrade to at least 1 gig ram.

I wouldn't recommend you touch the inside of your PC if you've no clue what your doing
not a good idea, taking it to a shop may cost a little more for the job you want to do
but will be far cheaper than buying a new PC if you break it.
