Anyone seen a bug like this?

Post by HansBolter »

Two nights ago I was doing a turn in one of my PBEM games.

I was about to order my 4 remaining US carriers (lost two earlier) to pounce on a Japanese CV TF NW of Nevea.

I examined my CV air squadrons to ensure they all had the desired settings.

I discovered that two of my carriers had some how acquired two fragmented squadrons each meaning they now had 6 squadrons aboard.

They were not fragments from the earlier lost carriers as that battle happened months ago and the fragments are all at land bases.

The fragments were of the squadrons based on the carriers. The fragments had zero planes in them so I couldn't transfer them off the carriers.

The truly bizzare thing was that each of these fragemnts had twin engine bombers of the A20B Havoc type????

Given that they had zero planes in them, I was not over capacity for the carriers even though all the full squadrons were fully fitted out.

However, I was leary of whether or not the 5 squadron limit for air operations aboard a carrier was going to keep any of my squadrons from flying. Is this a UV limitataion or a WitP one, playing both games I am starting to get rules mixed up a bit sometimes.

I didn't want to get a screenshot and post it here as it would reveal too much intel to my opponent.

I bit the bullet and decided to go ahead with the operation hoping for the best.

I just got the turn back and I can't tell for sure is all four carriers woth of air squadrons participated or not. There do not appear to be a very high number of sorties on my part, so I suspect that maybe only two of the carriers particiapted. It was still sufficient to get the job done as my opponet has thrown in the towel.

Here is the combat report: Does it look to you like four carriers worth of air squadrons participated, or only two?

Its a known bug. It usually happens when a fragment of CV squadron is flown off the carrier and then back to the carrier. It disappears usually after a few days or weeks. Have not noticed yet if this will influence carrier operation.

Looks like four torpedo squadrons launched (55 out of a max of 57 if one of your carriers is the Wasp/60 if not) and your sbds too (117 out of a max of 138/144 - 10-20% search).

Yea and 80 Wildcats on CAP for that last enemy sorty. Looks like the phantom A20s didn't keep my boys from flying.

But how does that explain the "Part Squadron" being A20's? [&:]

Because the A20 is the default graphic used when fragments get lost in base shuffles.
As Fueli said, it corrects itself in time.
