Sorry to disappoint IKE, but that sub will only need a week in port or so. The crew was due for liberty anyway

IKE sends his carriers NW of Luganville, and his planes fly on the port. Nothing sunk, we will see if my carriers can catch his. Most of my subs have now had to leave the Rabaul area to re-load. It was fun while it lasted.

33 Vals lost for nothing.......and its not like Ike to commit his strength to offensive operations unless he thinks its worth the risk.

Trying to get his mine sweeper groups going between Nevea and Luganville, spotted the wrong group.

No chance of pulling me into your land based air. I kept at extended range. I did that mistake the last game remember?

ok, I know ya'll are tired of reading this... but...... another turn, another AP - a big one took a torp and 5 shell hits. Plus another AP hit a mine. Several of my subs now have minor sys damage from surface fights with his AP's, so there will be  a brief break in the sub war I think. I am going to miss it, this was several turns in a row I managed to hit something over there.

Before Ralf threw in the towel, we had quite a little fight going on over Nevea. I kicked him off of both it and Wunpuko so he came back for another round at Nevea. He had the sea and air lanes pretty well covered and was flying LRCAP over Nevea from Irau and Lunga.

I repeatedly flew C47s and even Catalinas into Nevea in the teeth of the LRCAP losing on average 4-6 transports per day. In spite of the losses (the C47 pool was huge) I succeeded in getting enough of them through carrying both men and supplies that he was never able to get the upper hand on the island.

The Allies can sustain those C47 losses pretty well if the need is great enough to warrant risking them.

I´m not going that far. I just bother him a little until he comes closer.

Yes, I think you are playing smart Ike. Playing for the long haul. I'm currently playing my first PBEM game as the Japanese against Borner with the same strategy. I'm just not as skilled at it as you are.

I was just pointing out that if the Allies are willing to sustain some losses in transport aircraft they can get enough through to make a difference in an operation. Allied players shouldn't necessarily avoid the tactic if the gains justify it.

trying to maintain a cap over the base will cost IKE more planes than he wants to loose. He always likes to keep his good pilots for the big battle in the second half of the game. He did send a bombardment group in this turn, but I think that was to see if he could catch any ships at the base

I'm impressed with how low the OPs losses are for both sides.

My game with Todd is in mid Septermber '42 and I have over 500 Ops losses while Todd has over 800.

In the only game I have played through to the end of 43 I lost 3500 a/c to ops losses (playing as the IJN). Just flying to and from a target is a challenge for late war Jap pilots[:(]

You guys must really be pulling your punches if the combined A/C loss is less than 500 in six months of combat.
