[Help] Black screen on startup

I got black screen on startup.
When I start the game, it did enter the main menu.
By clicking the mouse, I can here the menu audio effect and the background music.
However, the screen is totally black.
On pressing Ctrl + Esc to return to desktop, I can see a flash of the game menu.
Is there anyone who can help me?

You might want to consider reinstalling your video card driver....what kind of video card do you have?

It's NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GS on my laptop
I have a 14.1 inch wide screen.
My desktop resolution is 1280*800.
I think the wide screen is suspicious.

Possibly, try this set your desktop resolution to 1024 x 768 and see how that goes...

Other reports of similar.... and the fix

Purchased the game today and ran across this very problem. By changing the setting in the nvidia control panel to "antialiasing - application controlled" (as per dfritschie's post above) I was able to start the game up fine.

Just wanted to mention it in case someone else had the same problem.

The problem is solved by setting antialiasing to be application controlled.
