Mixed blockade battle

Post by larrywrose »

Russia and England are allied and both are blockading the Holland Fleets in Amsterdam. I attack the fleets with a French navy coming into relieve the blockade, but I only have to fight the British on the way in. I then tried to run the blockade and again I only have to face the British Fleet. Since Russia and England are both at war with France, and allied, should they not count as 1 stack of units?

Note also that after I defeat the British Fleet with the relieving fleet if I move out the combined fleet then the Russian navy intercepts.

Thanks

As far as i know fleets only fight together if lend.

I seem to remember long ago(6+months) posting some similar bug, where it was "owned by same MP" free states who did not combine, not sure if thats fixed.

Does anybody know whether this also happens with land units? That is, if two countries are allied and both at war with the same enemy, and have moved their corps into the same area, BUT neither has lent its corps to the other, what happens if an enemy stack moves in? Does it fight only one of the two, or both?

It should be both, but maybe the game isn't interpreting it that way.

If it only happens at sea, then something else is going on.

When i tested land units of allied nations together attacked by a power both where at war with they combined, back on patch 1.03, havent tested in new patch.

I did in 1 pbm game notiche my ally and my minor free state corps together didnt join defending in a fight though (in 1.03, but i could not recreate it when i tested this myself with same patch, so its unclear if it was a glitch or the attacker was using older patch).
