Waiting... and waiting... and waiting... and waiting...

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

So I guess the short answer is no one knows if and when this game will be released. That's all I wanted to know. I won't waste any more of my time or yours. Thank you. [;)]

that´s better

I am sure that the team is on the right way - at least it looks like it is getting playable ( from a beta tester standpoint ),
but there is still lot of stuff to do, and some tweaking of stats is probably on the way [8D]

It is true that this game has been "discussed" for some time without being released. But it is nowhere near the top of the list.

I have been reading about "Histwar: Les Grognards" over at Battlefront for, literally, years. When it finally gets released, I imagine we will be beyond computers, never mind XP or Vista.

I, almost, prefer having a new game appear without warning, ala Commander NAW. I also like the AGEOD approach with WW I. You can pre-order now, download and get an Activation patch on November 11. And it will be available on November 11. I am sure it will need a patch, or three (consider the scope of the subject) but they will come quickly.

Matrix publishes lots of games from lots of sources (Matrix will, for example, carry WWI). Some come from out of the blue and some take forever.

Please realize that the guys working on Eagle Day are "volunteers" that have devoted a lot of time and energy to the project with (as far as I know), no payments other than the hope someday of getting the game out and making a few dollars from royalties on sales

So Matrix doesn't want to invest a dime in this title, part from harvesting the result? Do they really think this title is so bad they simply reject to take it on themselves?! They make other games that truly is alot worser than this, so i am just curious to know why this is so..

I thought the common praxis in this world was to pay people who do the job for you, obviously not in this case..

But atleast i know now why this game is so horribly delayed.

Perhaps all games by Matrix are volunteers work?

Vils,

I looked at a few of your earlier posts from the months ago commenting on this project. In your current post you act like you learned new information which you didn't. Your comments/questions in this post are weak as a result.

Most people know Matrix is a publisher of other companies (this includes teams working on projects) games. The ones that don't know this have not looked very hard to find this fact. Thankfully, only a few uninformed ones whine like you did.
If you look at how the Matrix is structured you would see how they can offer us some good games. And yes, some are not so good. That's life.

Perhaps all games by Matrix are volunteers work?

Do some research and you will see that is not true.

I believe this game will be released and hopefully be good.

Perhaps you need to pick up a dictionary and find out what the word "volunteer" actually means. Then afterwards you can do some more research into how Matrix Games functions.

I work on WitP/AE, which has the same volunteer setup as Eagle Day, and I don't do it for money, but because it gives me a unique opportunity to help invigorate and expand a game that I love to play.

I was offered this opportunity several years ago now, and I jumped on like a starving squirrel on the last peanut in the world. And you know what? I'm not doing this for money, or for Matrix Games, or for any potential customer. I volunteered to do this for MY sake.

Based on the text of your post, this explanation won't make any sense to you, but I don't really care.

((NOTE: I speak english with difficulty, becaue i live in sweden, so bare with my spelling/grammar etc ))

If you read my text you see what ive learned. Re-read again please, and pay attention to the quotes, they are there to read so people like you can undestand the red line of the discussion.

But i clarify: Ive learned that Matrix dont pay the dudes that is developing this game. No salary/No payment, but a hope for a cut in the earnings later on. If i cant read thus am wrong i beg you pardon, but its in black and white right abouve you a few posts..

With this in mind, i ofcourse got a semi-shock knowing that those poor guys even must do it on spare time for free! Therefore i am totally enlightned why this game :
1. takes so long to develop - can anyone argue with this?
2. Risk of a scrapping of projec DO exist - can you argue with this?

Have i right to be dissapointed here at all and write about it, or is this forum just for your happy buddies?

Uninformed people will always rant, on every game forum wordwide forever, you just have to take the pain because it will never, ever go away. You see, when fans worldwide dedicated to a game follows it develop in a forum, they will sooner or later get pretty annoyed and angry when devs can't even spend 3 minute A MONTH to say something about it.

As a curiosity, did you know that the most succesfull games nowdays are acually a semi co-op with devs and fans, an ongoing conversation where both groups seek to strive to the very same goal, and get the game out. Here is where the biggest fanbase grew, when they feel their ideas are really coming true in the finished game. THIS IS NOT happening here.. not at all..

If it is to continue, expect lesser and lesser activity here and it will die rock hard and you can scrape you coins up afterwards when noone buys the game, they have all grew tired of it long before it is even released. Has happen many times before.. You should trust me, im a hardcore gamer and plays far to much since 20 years, and i am not the ranter type, i just leared that you easily notice the quality of a game with all this above as a guide. ESPECIALLY when hearing that tehre are no employees tied to it ... *sigh* If you need examples i have tons of it..

How Matrix is built and how they work i have not the slightlest clue. Unless you are one among them, or a buddy of them, or in a devteam yourself, how could us gamers possible know that?! I just learned it in this thread that it is so.. excuse me if i didnt react with over-joy..

So... next time anyone rants about release dates etc, dont say you dont kow anything, instead say the truth, we dont have any employed personell on this tilte, it man take 1 year it man take 10, or it may never get released. If yoiu could have said this in the first post ever written in this forum you should have spared EVERY SINGE RANT about it..

Thanks for not sharing the information until 3-4 years later..

Congrats, an exellent way of running things.. err..

Terminus:

No i won't do research on how Matrix works, you just told me. And i definately don't need a dictionarey for the volunteer word, that was just sarcasm against me but i'll ignore it, it's just naive and pointless..

Yet, Witp is probably one of the 10 best wargames in the world, so hats of for that! Truly! But it got nothing to do with Eagle Day. Zip-zero-nada.

I gets offended though when you say i won't understand what you say, i truly do! Its very cute and honorurable to do a thing like that, but it is NOT PROFESSIONALISM. If you need something to compare too google 'game companies' and read further...

And hey, you do it for YOUR sake, not mine nor any other gamer out there, us gamers would vote for a professional developed gamed Eagle Day any day! Because it would (i have to say it again) reduce development with years, it would add tons of new goodies to the game, it would add tons of yummy graphics and effects in it. It would strangely cost the same still, and that nut is for you to crack ;-)

you know, I have been up front and honest about what is going on since day one

most "teams" "companies" do not let the project leader or programmers even read the forums, some one else reads them, and screens what they think should be passed on

and for someone to say, that I don't spend 3 minutes a month on the forum, trying to give updates or info on the game, well...

I try to be polite, I try to be honest, and I try to tell what I know, when I do know something

but this kind of stuff just takes the cake

WHY would I say, we don't have anybody working on this title ? I am the Project Leader, not Matrix, and nobody from Matrix is making any of the statements that they are getting blamed for, or how they run what ever they are running

I have said from the beginning, I can't tell you what the release date is going to be, even if I knew, I wouldn't be saying anything, until I knew for sure it was going to happen, I can tell you what we are working on, how this or that is going, but other then that, there not much that I can say, that I have not already said

and why do you think Matrix is not putting any money into this game ?, they do all the other stuff, that needs to be done, we are working on the game side, they do the bussiness side

and I would hate to think that Keith, Gary and Mike Woods were only playing around while they helped us

oh well, I could go on, but I think my 3 minutes are up for this month

catch you next month

HS is just trying to be sarcastic [8|]
and vils should know it better

for some of us it is a little bit more than a game. there are not many games with a similar background and with this depth; we ( at least a few of us ) play this games since its release date ( and it is soon 10 years old )

Same here.  I can scan the covers of my original manuals if you like.   It's been a long, and as must be obvious to all by now "often unappreciated" trek for these valiant friends of the program.  I just don't want harsh words to dishearten or scare off any volunteer developers currently building the new version of my favorite toy.

Well I just want to say to Hard Sarge, Swift, Harley and the others that I am very appreciative for their efforts on this game. This includes the advice they have kindly taken their time to share with me as I struggle to succeed at playing this game. The game they are working hard to improve. I also am greatful for all their posts they have made as to the things they are working on, the test runs they are doing to check their results with and the fact that they are so dedicated to this which is not their lifes proffession.

It's easy to do a drive by scan of this forum and figure that nothing is being done. However if you take the time to go and dig through the huge volume of posted content you will see that a lot has been done and completed and there is a lot more to be done. You will also see that there is constant activity towards those ends. You will also note that Hard Sarge and crew are constantly sharing what is going on with the community.

Keep in mind I am not part of this crew, I am just one of the Chimps in the Monkey Gallery asking questions. [8D]

For all this I am appreciative to the crew working on this and I know that once they got it all worked out it will be delivered and it will play well.

Thanks Hard Sarge, Swift, Harley & Crew [&o]

Later,
KayBay
